Large Scale Central

Is Bob promoting a smaller scale?

You may call me a conspearicy whacko, but I think the evidence is clear that Bob is attempting to promote HO scale using subliminal techniques.

We must act quickly before it is too late =D Ralph

So what is wrong with HO Gauge or is it scale? Other than it is too small for us old guys to see!

Paul

Maybe I should have posted this on the Joke thread.
But then, it wouldn’t have been quite the same.
Ralph

Ralph,

I got it. Some will read it again and catch on. Then there are others.

Hahaha… Or should I say Hohoho?

Jon.

I’d be promoting N, not HO!

N? As in N for Nightmare? I don’t know how you guys could see that stuff. My son is into N big time now. I tried to do some couplers on his Kato F unit and broke out in a sweat because I couldn’t see anything!

Jon.

That’s why I left HO a couple of years back, between the springs in the Kadee couplers and trying to read the reporting marks on the side of the frt guys I was going blind! N??? Heck, I’d have trouble just seeing the car let alone any reporting marks! Long live LARGE SCALE !

I have to agree I prefere N as well. Im even toying with the idea of making a small layout in my office at home. I have so much in the rolling stock etc... Its a shame not to get something together.

N is for guy’s with GOOD eyesight!!! Not us old fart’s who can’t see anymore, and have arthritic hands and fingers and all that old rot! Even G tests my patience once in awhile. The Regal

After I started my outdoor layout, I pulled out my old HOn30 stuff and sold it off. Hadn’t even looked at it in almost 20 years, and was stunned at how small it now seemed, and how much harder it is to see.

Me too. I sold all my HO stuff on eBay about 4 years ago. It was easy to sell and most brought 2-3 times what I paid for it  It was a riot to list something that had the $4.95 price tag in the pictures and get bids for nearly $15. I’m going to start listing my 1:24 stuff and only hope does half as well, but I doubt it.

Doesn’t N come out to about 1/8 in 1:20.3? We could have a whole new breed of quasai live steamers!

Matthew (OV)

Especially the early Rapido ones.
They did like to smoke.

I don’t know.
I like restoring/rebuilding H0 units.

Even developed some “fixes” for some old Athearn F units.

I’ve got three Varney die-cast F-3’s (2 As and one B), a pair of die-cast Varney Docksiders, a John A. English 0-4-0, three series two Mantua 2-8-0’s (all-metal cab, tender, and a gearbox screwed to the frame, among other things), three or 4 other old Mantua steamers, a MDC 0-6-0 die-cast tanker with double-reduction gears, and this MDC 0-6-0 tender loco I am working on.

I’ve got an old Penn-Line mini-diesel (die-cast, smaller than an Athearn Hustler, gear-drive), gee, I can’t even remember all the stuff.

Gee, I thought I was in a very small group that has or is using something other than Goofy gauge… I’m into O scale using Lionel and the like. Sure do like playing with the operating accessories. I don’t care about scale, scenery, track, reverse loops-Y’s or DCC. It’s getting phuner everyday and that is what counts here. Your version might and probably does differ. That’s okay by me.

Cheers, the old fardt in Ore-Gun OH Ya ! We are deep in drifted snow and don’t talk about the ice ! Below freezing for too many days and nights.

There’s a classic old poem, by Edward Markham, about farmers and farm workers and the toll that farm labor takes. When I started out I used to use it in class. Now I can’t. Why"

It’s called “The Man with the Hoe.”
