Iron Road

This is my portable track built on old ironing boards…mesh type…I have seen railway layouts using ironing boards as stands, but never one directly part of a board.
Track is secured by wire ties to allow changes. All the boards were from charity shops cost between £1-£2 each, with the stand for the iron cut off to allow the boards to link up…I have other boards to be used for displays etc…recycling?

Gee, who would have thought? That’s cool.

Interesting Dave. Who’s track are you using, it looks nice.

Ok that’s dam ingenious. Cheap, sturdy, easy to set up, and allows diversity. I love it.

Thanks for the comments…I run 16mm / 7-8ths and O gauge on Peco and Tenmillie SM32 track , but G scale 45mm track will fit…the only downside is that I do need a flat level surface to set up on…but it’s an idea to share…great if you use one board just for display or test track…

I don’t think the wife would appreciate that…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Ken,

She might if you did the ironing first!
