Large Scale Central

Inventory Reduction....explained

A short while ago I offered some converted Bachmann 4-6-0s for sale. I think I assumed that most people knew what that description meant. A bit of an error, methinks.

A BBT converted Bachmann loco is a 4-6-0 Big Hauler, stripped of it’s mechanicals and replaced with a complete new drive system. Starting with a pilot truck frame and arm which doesn’t tend to derail, all metal except for a Lexan crossmember and picks up track current. The drive consists of ball-bearing mounted stainless steel axles, reworked Bachmann metal drive wheels, adapted to the new axles. Stainless steel laser cut siderods, New 8000 series Pittman motor, a worm and countershaft drive to eliminate any surging. Metal wheelsets in the tender frames. The super structures are usually brand or very new, if something else it is described. Pictures are available or can be had for the unit offered.

I am offering a special discount on the 4-6-0 converted big haulers, which are normally list priced at $400.00 and offered here at $300.00 plus shipping $25.00. For a short period reduce the $300.00 price to $250.00 plus the $25.00 shipping. This price is the cost of the drive kit alone.

If you would like a copy of the “BBT Locos For Sale”, please email me and I will send the list. If you would like the Plus Drive kit price list, ask for it and if you want the ANNIE price list ask for it, or just say “All Lists”.

Payment accept by Check or Money order (recent business change has precluded offering acceptance by CC).

Hey Barry, do you have any spare bachman drive wheels left? I need a 4-6-0 fireman side rear drive wheel with a flange, preferably green, but I’m not picky.
Terry

Terry,

Most of the wheels in my inventory have been processed to be used with my adapters and axles.

But I do have some, which may work for you. Bachmann wheels (flanged are not specific to exact location, any flanged wheel will work in any flanged wheel location.

More important is the axle on the wheel or lack of an axle. Early BH flanged wheels have a plastic hub which is driven on to the axle (and quartered).

The fourth gen. has an axle half with a square end which goes into a sound drum or drive gear.

The fifth and sixth gen wheels mount on an axle with plastic pieces in and around the hub.

What is wrong with the "bad " wheel?

Barry

Barry… Your drive that I recently got from you, Is everything PLUS MORE then expected, and all the praise that is heaped upon you’r drives is an understatement. The original Circus engine I had could not pull 6 cars up the grade on my pike. Your converted Bachman BH 4-6-0 to your 2-8-0 drive pulled 29 cars up the grade, Thats all the cars I could round up at the time… Thank you from my Great Grand son, Grandpa can now run his entire circus train (20 cars) at the same time.

This offer for reduced prices… is that an exchange for my body or with your body, and or can I send you a body to convert or can I convert my own body with you drive under it?

Thanks
Dave

I will find out what type of wheel it is.
Terry

Dave,

Thanks for the nice words. Once a drive is installed in the Bachmann chassis, any Big Hauler boiler and cab assy will fit. The only concern may be the wheel color.

The offer is for complete locomotive and tender, new drive, ready to run.

Barry

OK, so what is the ““Plus drive kit””???

I have two of these drive systems installed and they are great!! And at the price you acn’t go wrong!! When barry does it it is GOOD!

Paul

The Plus drive kit is to say it is not for a Tenth Anniv. loco.

The plus Drive does not have the equalized axle allowed on the Tenth Annie (due to it’s hinged siderod).

The motor and gear drives are the same, it is just the equalized first axle that makes the difference (the difference is noticeable on the Annies).

As to Kit, in my parlance it is a fully built up and operational drive, complete with an equalized pilot truck, your wheels adopted to my drive and will run for your test.

The instructions tell you the mods needed to mount your plastic chassis and Boiler and cab.

Thank you, Paul.

Barry

I neglected to add one important, hopefully not, detail.

These discounted prices are good through the month of December, then I must revert to the originally discounted prices.

Thank you.

Barry

I also should have mentioned earlier, I have pictures of most of these locos. I don’t post here very well, but an email request will get a quick response.

Hi Barry. Here is the best I can do on the wheel for the moment. I’m actually trying to find it for a friend. He describes as this. “I dropped the loco and broke the center out of the wheel where the screw goes in.” He also provided me with this picture for reference. I don’t know alot about these locos to tell which is which. If this doesn’t help I will get more info. Terry

The only wheels I can think of that have a center where the screw goes in is a late model Big Hauler, I have them. $5.00 a wheel, plus $3.00 for postage.
I will ship it with a black color wheel insert, per the photo.

Need an address to ship to and a check mailed to:
