Devon, I was talking the old pull top hickey thangs, but I never used the metal flag to filet anything. Well, just my finger once or twice, but that was an accident.

I do vaguely remember the old pull tops. I am old enough to have experienced them.

Donā€™t waist nothing!

Can also be used as a secret decoder ring!

Thatā€™s them, Sean. It really was a big deal back then. It was no longer a tragedy if someone forgot to bring the ā€œChurch Keyā€.

Isnā€™t is amazing to see how quickly a thread can get ā€œside-trackedā€ by ā€œthrowingā€ a switch. Stan
We did not ā€œside-trackā€ this threadā€¦

We circled around the Secret decoder ring thing !!

Now we go back to the thread.

Joe thanks for my Badge !

Stan did ask Joe for a Badge???

Boomer, the decoder ring comes with the basic membership. Its with the all inclusive, out of my price range, membership, that you actually get the instruction pamphlet on how to use the thing.

I was plaing with a free train layout software and came up with this design to fit my space. had to justify being a Rroundy Round Runner.

The International Association of Roundy Round Runners (Triple R) is proud to announce its newest member:

Dan Hilyer #49

Welcome aboard Dan! Your secret decoder ring, toga and copy of the Code of Roundness are in the mail.

Want to be pointless? Learn the fine art of drinking beer, eating BBQ and watching trains go in circles? Find out how to join the nonsense here: https://cibolalmrr.wordpress.com/triple-r/

I think, when we reach the magic 50th. member, we should all have a celebratory run - roundy roundy of course.

This time of year, I must admit, is a roundy roundy time here on my RR. It means I can wrap up very well, when it is not raining, get the train going and saw up wood or do other outdoor jobs but still enjoy my trains. Hopefully as the spring approaches I ca get back to switching and other railroad pastimes.

Boomer, glad to be part of the IARRR. Thanks to all the members for allowing me to take part. Now Iā€™m going home and tell the wife that I am now a member of an elite group and in order to maintain my status in the association I must drink beer, eat BBQ and watch trains go round at least 6 days a week.

Welcome Dan, I agree with Alan, A celebratory run would be called for. Glad I have my Micro layout in the garage.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

AND Post pictures or it didnā€™t happen!

Welcome aboard Dan. Iā€™ll have to wait for a few months to enjoy a celebratory roundy round on my layout as we received another 10 inches of snow yesterday and into this morning. Driveways clear, but thereā€™s a 4ā€™ berm of snow between the driveway and the backyard where my layout is at.

John, I will gladly post pictures of the beer and BBQ. Canā€™t quite post them of the layout since it exists only in my mind for the time being. Iā€™ll be starting a build log soon. Will still be a few months before I can actually start laying track due to some other projects I need to finish, not least of which is my wood fired pizza oven.

Thanks Chuck. I canā€™t even begin to imagine dealing with all that snow. We are still having 70 degree weather here. Just keep reminding yourself that spring is on the way.

Well, I hope this qualifies as roundy round:

And if that fails, I should hope this proves it:

Fred,

Be nice. Donā€™t be so disparaging!

I dunno, Fred, sometimes itā€™s just nice to sit back, relax and watch the trains go roundā€¦(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Yep, after several hours of running 30-50 car trains in opposite directions on the mainline, it is nice to sit back with a Scotch, a cigar and watch and listen to the trains run (I have the small loop pictured and a much bigger one that follows the property line.

We do have a switchyard, and are adding spurs for running operations.
