You need a dose of warm weather. I know just the place!
Thatās the first time Iāve ever seen a stack train with smaller containers sitting on top of larger ones - and there were quite a few of them, too. I was under the illusion that that rarely, if ever, occurred. If anyoneās more conversant with stack trains than I am, Iād appreciate feedback on how the decision to stack a car is arrived at.
Didnāt see any 20-footers, either - all big stuff.
Dave,
I donāt know if the hot climate would do any good.
If I counted correctly there were 84 cars on that Intermodal. Donāt know how many feet that would come to, but I know that CN runs up to 10000ā trains if the track profile lends itself to it.
And they have a tendency to overdo it even when they run with distributed power; had their hands slapped a few times by the TSB on account of the resulting derailments. BTW a lot of the TSB accident reports can be looked up and read in full on the Net, makes for interesting reading.

There were quite a few refrigerated units on that train, too.
