Interesting phish

This in the “spam” folder this morning:

"Dear bank account owner,

Funds wired into your account are stolen from innocent account holders through Identity
Theft. Please check your account statement (the statement is attached to this letter)
and contact your bank account manager.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation"

No links, only this .exe attachment to open…and wipe out your computer.

Gawd, there must be a high percentage of gullible individuals out there if this stuff works.

I’ve taken to simply checking my email on the ISPs server first (and deleting the garbage), rather than downloading it all.

There are more crooks than guys out to just make mayhem, so it’s more likely it will install a keystroke capture or trojan to mine your computer for passwords than just wipe your hard drive (no money in THAT unless they own the local repair shop.)

If scams didn’t work, would there be so many of them? Every year around here we get fly-by-night roofers taking old ladies’ money and disappearing… Let me repeat the first part EVERY YEAR… You’d think that them old ladies would start to catch on sooner or later, but they never seem to.

And do they really think I’m more likely to buy “Pedipaws,” if they put 6 advertisements in my mailbox every day, than if they just put one?
