Large Scale Central

Interesting new TV series

Hell on Wheels, building the transcontinental railroad by an angry former CSA soldier. I think it will be very good, based on the trailer I’ve seen.

Okay! When is the Premiere?

hmmmm, now that looks interesting…

Thanks steve, for the heads up…

could be a good show. Thanks

“…an angry former CSA soldier…” Is there any other kind in the movies? Sorry but thats such a cliche to me.

There were alot - ALOT- of former Johnny Rebs working on the Uncle Pete to build the transcon, they were living and working right alongside alot of former Yankee soldiers and by all accounts there were no real clashes or any bad blood, they were all glad to have work and wages in a economic depression ridden country and any fights they had with Uncle Sam were about late pay, not war greviences.

Still this show could be fun, I’ve learned not to judge a show on its premise. I thought AMCs “The Walking Dead” would be a joke till I Netflix’d it, dammm… thats a GOOD show!!

Just watched the the clip, and wow, I think it will be a good show, lots of great actors.

Yeah, another angry veteran stereotype.

I see a stereotype here.
Aren’t we angry enough already.
I watched the clip I for one will not watch the show.
Another Hollywood wonders blood guts and gore.

Well, it does have a train in it, and Wes Studi, an impressive native American actor who is always good in the movies he has played in “Last of the Mohicans” was another movie he was in along with locals (South Dakota) Russel Means, and Dennis Banks! Regal

I would love to see a good mini-series about the building of the transcon RR. But I doubt that such a thing will ever be made. This one’s most likely just another typical Hollywood distortion of history.

For an accurate and completely gripping account of the RR and what it took to build it, read “The Empire Express” by David Haward Bain.

It will most likely be another Hollywood disaster. I for one will pass on it. Later RJD

I like most westerns, so I’ll give it a try.
My wife just got me the new “True Grit”. Haven’t had time to watch it yet.

John, I watched both the new Grit then the Wayne version right after. I have to admit the Cowen brothers version is the better version. Bridges is terrific as Cogburn.
