What is the largest battery I can install in the LGB Genesis loco. Can I use one Airwire G3 decoder to operate both locos? This setup will be for a Christmas display and will need to operate as long as possible. Thanks
The genesis is a giant cave inside, you could put a lot of battery in there. And yes, the G3 will run both locos just fine.
I have done two of these. One I put a 14.8 volt LiIon in and it runs good but it is a bit slow for realistic operation. The other had an 18v battery and ran with a more realistic top speed. For a christmas layout I wouldn’t be too worried about it speeding around. If you plan on keeping it then you may want to consider the higher voltage.

And for running a long time, the highest mah battery you can get will help also. I have a 5600 mah battery in a K-27 and have ran that for 2 days at operating sessions without recharging it.
Maybe it should go without saying, but you can buy multiple battery packs and put them in parallel. I would not have one huge one made.
