Installing an RCS # PNP-ADAPT into a K-27

This new device from RCS is designed to simplify the installation of non PnP ESC’s into Bachmann and AristoCraft locos equipped with the standard Plug’n’Play socket.

It provides filtered and polarised DC power from regular constant track power and/or on board batteries.

Now you can easily install an AirWire esc for example into socket equipped locos without having to rewire the loco.

This install only shows how to install the # PNP-ADAPT and assumes you have a way of switching the battery on - off and re-charging it.

The # PNP-ADAPT is clearly marked as to where the wires go between it and the ESC.

There are two ways of connecting the batteries.
Battery input # 1 permits Track and/or battery power. Whichever voltage is the highest is what will be automatically used. Set the Track - Battery switch to Track.
Battery input # 2 permits Track OR battery power. Set the Track - Battery switch to whatever you prefer.

The Bachmann K-27 only will require modifying the stock chuff signal wiring in order to use the Bachmann chuff timers. One small transistor and a small cap is all that is needed. The kit instructions show how to do it.

Six wires are connected between the # PNP-ADAPT and the ESC of your choice.

Power (+), Power (-), Motor (+), Motor (-), Front light and Rear light control. The # PNP-ADAPT takes care of providing the power for the Bachmann and AristoCraft electronics.

This pic shows the connections at the # OMEGA-3 ESC.

My customer was using a Dallee K-27 sound which is powered from the ESC.
