Some pics of yesterday’s inspection train, first train over the ROW since last October’s storm damage, and subsequent rebuild. Management called the MOW crew to be the first across the line. Here they bring #6 from the engine service area (having just received an upgrade to its horn) and couple onto their cars, making up WX-NRS-1 (Work Extra - Not Really to Scale)
Pulling out of Burke, the train heads to Williamsport, and then down the hill toward Majestic, bypassing the Pearce Branch.
Over the temporary bridge nearing Majestic, the crew takes the main over the new arch bridges.
Exiting Majestic, the train runs at restricted speed while entering the realignment.
And lastly, across the new ROW and past the soon-to-be-built cutoff.
Looks great Bob. And since I’m about to take on the coupler issue on my two 45 tonners, I’m curious as to how you mounted the Accucraft couplers on yours. It looks like you are using the Accucraft draft gear, but what is behind it filling the hole left by removing Bachman’s draft gear?
Bob the layout really looks good. Nice to see you up and running again. It was great weekend for running trains.
That tree coming down was kind of a blessing in disguise. The new arrangement looks 100% better. That new trestle looks like a great photo op spot…
Jon: I dont think it was that big of an issue. I think the hole is slightly smaller width-wise than the AMS coupler box, and I just bolted it through the end beam. I’ll have to look, but I dont recall any problems.
Everyone: Thanks, I’m really pleased the way this is turning out. Lots of fill to move still, but its really starting to take shape.
Looking good, Bob!
Nice job. Looked like a lot of work. Later RJD
