Hey Steve…any updates or did I just miss 'em?
No, Richard, you haven’t missed anything. The DC&M’s still mothballed for the winter (though whoever heard of a Montana winter without snow?). I have been building and stockpiling more roadbed modules to be installed when spring arrives, however. Updates then, for sure.
One change to the plan: to silence some persistent whining by my roundy-roundy-running, wanna-be-large-scaler friends, I’ve agreed to add a continuous run connection between La Mange and some point (yet to be decided) between Delores and Nullarbor. We’ll name the cutoff the “Lanphere Link” after a close friend who passed away unexpectedly last month.

Hey Steve,
If your going to have groups of six or more people seems like a continuous loop is almost mandatory. Most visitors want to see trains rolling they are not really interested in how perfectly you can spot the box car in front of the warehouse doors.
I have found that with small groups that I can set a train rolling and let it run and can keep my attention on the visitors. With larger groups I don’t have time to do anything but answer questions and show/tell how I did this or that.
When we have an Open House or other large groups on the SP I always have at least one and usually two operators working and I get to watch the trains run a little between questions and how too’s.
That’s cool, naming the cut-off after your friend, a great way to keep his memory alive.
Later
Rick
