Info on Bachmann Annies generations

I needed a cheap Bachmann big hauler in D&RGW colors in order to put an Annie chassis I had under it.
I found one in a train store in the mid west that was advertised “as is” for cheap. It needed a pilot and headlight. I order those from Bachmann at the same time.
When I got the engine I found out it was an Annie #12.
This is the model I received after the new parts were added.

Here is a number 12 on Ebay and is not an Annie, (nor advertised as one) just a big hauler. Plastic rods and push on rod keepers on the drivers and less detail.

My question is has anyone compiled a list of all Annies (onset to present) with road names and numbers?
It would be interesting to see what they produced.

(Almost.) Loco Bill on the Bachmann Forums has a fairly complete list of the types.

Names and numbers often relate to which set they come from, and Bill did a list once that I can no longer find.

Great deal on the ‘cheap’ 4-6-0!

Peter, I ordered a new chassis from bachmann this month.
It had plastic rods, plastic pins to hold the rods on, and plastic cylinder rods.
I was disappointed, because I thought all the new stuff had metal rods, etc.

I thought it was going to be the new version (2021present). No, it was all pre 2021.

It’s my own fault. The enlargement clearly shows the plastic parts. The only thing I used was the new style front pilot. I tried to tap the drivers out so I could use my metal rods and nuts, but that failed.

I assumed any engine with metal rods and detail was an “Annie”. After reading that list I was wrong. But I think I’ll still call them that, because it is easier than remembering all those variations and model ID’s.

The drivers are retained by a screw, on any version after the very earliest. You tap the painted wheel insert out from behind (the balance weight shows between the spokes,) then unscrew the wheel.

I put this page together going on six years ago now just because I couldn’t keep any of it straight without pictures. Most of these are NLA from Bachmann, but hopefully you’ll find it helpful.

Outstanding! Great work.
Thank you, John.

A wonderful resource - gret job John. Can I send the link to Loco Bill so it can be posted on the Bachmann forums?

Feel free to link to it. If anyone has any of the missing items please let me know and I’ll add them.
