Industrial Railroads

I love it. I have fallen in love with these little industrial/mining/logging saddle tank locos. I am starting an 0-4-0 1:20.3 2’ foot that will look very similar to the first two for a micro layout. There is just a ton of character in this little locos. I like the 2 axel cars as I will be modeling them as well. great motivation.

Some of us are sicker 'n others. Its a disease, idinit? I even found it in the IDC10.

Steve, thats why I like hanging out here. It makes my disease look mild in comparison. But I am still a middle aged man who likes to play with “toy trains”. Yes it is a disease. I struggle with my addiction daily. I am having a hard time prioritizing. I need to finish my 2-6-0 but can’t stop working on this little 0-4-0. Even then my mind wanders to other possibilities.

I prefer to label it a ‘spiritual calling’.

And, yes, that canvas sided car is interesting. I knew British RR’s had 4-wheel trucks with fabric covers with peaked tops, but had not yet seen one from elsewhere. That is a ‘gotta be modeled’ car fer sure!

I’m looking at the shapes and shadows and thinking there is a solid roof under there. And, that the fabric is nailed, screwed, bolted, stapled, something, to a stud and blocking, wall style, frame on the sides.
Dang it! That car is begging and pleading to be built, in multiple, and there’s only one of me, and I only have so much time, money, and health!

Now I wonder if the car number of 4 tells us that there were at least 3 more like it, or if number was assigned for an unrelated reason.

Maybe, but the loco is No.3 so it could just be their 4th piece of equipment (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
