In-ko-pah RR: Another brick building

At the risk of boring everyone, here’s another shot of the town… The green stuff is moss or algae, brought on by the shady and relatively damp conditions on the layout at this time of year…

Yeah, but is it 1:1 algae, or 1:24? Inquiring minds want to know.

When I showed this pic to SWMBO, her reaction was, “Nice pic.” Then I told her it was on a model railroad.

I had to help her pick her jaw up off the floor.

There is no higher praise, from her.

BZ.

That is exactly the response my wife and I had. We have a new term now for super detailing. Dunakining Wink

Yup, and it’s one that lives outside! I’ll expect to see Dunakining on list of new works for the dictionary next year.

Hell, I thought that was downtown Bisbee Az Cool

I’ve started making the interior details for the barbershop, beginning with the chair. The base of the chair is made from a cast-resin metal lampshade I bought at the club swap meet a few years ago. I sanded down the rim of the shade, then filled the underside with epoxy putty:

The chair itself was made from various bits of Sintra PVC foam board, plus some styrene strips, and detailed with nut/bolt/washer castings from Grandt Line:

That’s it for now, more later.

Ray, I would love to be your first customer(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif).

Ray your attention to detail is second to none.

What type of Magazines are you going to have laying around?(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Railroad Gazette, True Detective, Farmer’s Almanac…

Ray, I’ve been IN that chair!

Hey Ray, nice, you forgot the handle to jack up the chair and the strap for the razor and the headrest…Grandpa was a barber and we got his old chair!

Nice work Ray!

Tom H

And a Strop hanging off the side so your barber can make a show of Stropping the blade before each customer…

We care.

John

OK Ray… It’s been 20 Days since the last post. What ya up to? Usually after a brief delay in posting, A WOW post pops up. A few more details on the barber side? Cant wait to see.

Unfortunately too many “real life” things have been demanding my time, so haven’t had a chance to get any modeling done for a while.

Ray, this is no excuse, 'cause when it comes to modeling, I only talk (and write) the talk. But “real life” is where me and she is at and them daily visits to the Rad Pad, as I’ve dubbed it, cut into my, umm, working time. As it is, you are an amazing modeler, circumstances notwithstanding. Now what the heck did I just say? Anyway, remind you to tell me in a private email, about the slogan me and my buddy made up while spending a few days driving a swell car (and unwinding in a bar) from Houston, TX to Newport Beach, CA. We even some t-shirts made!

Ray,

Here’s a thermometer for the radio repair shop.

Although, knowing how detailed you make everything, you probably already have built a working one! Your amazing and fantastic work continues to inspire all of us to be better modelers.

Bob

Thanks Bob, I haven’t seen that thermometer before.

Ray , has the barbershop been finished?
