Large Scale Central

In-ko-pah Railroad -- My best video so far!

Here’s a brand new video of my 1/24th scale, In-ko-pah Railroad. I think it’s my best video of the RR to date! I’ve tried to shoot and edit this in the style of a professional railfan video, depicting a day on the In-ko-pah Railroad. You’ll see my Bachmann/BBT 4-6-0 steam locomotive and my kitbashed narrow gauge RS-3 diesel in action, along with detailed structures and the beautiful, realistic desert scenery I’ve created.

I’m really excited about how this video turned out!

BTW, there are no “dubbed” sounds. All the locomotive sounds are produced by the Phoenix P9 sound systems installed in the locos.

Outstanding video Ray!

Very nice. Loved the paced shots of the steam engine. A very good video!!!

Yeah, one of the best 1:24 videos I’ve seen. I especially like the chollas and ocotillos.

Very, very nice Ray. Your railroad shows so well with the fabulous rock work and structures. And those night shots!!! It was fun to see trains moving along the right of way I watched you build here on the forum.

Ray,
I echo other’s comments. At times, one is left wondering if prototype scenes have been dubbed in as the scenery is so real. A pleasure to watch. While watching I was directed to a video of the real Inkopah Gorge. You capture the prototype so well.

Definately a joy to see

Excellent video, Ray.
The RS-3 looks great in action.
Ralph

Very nice - Thanks!

Ray,

I agree, your best video and truly a video for everyone else to use as a benchmark. You’ve raised the bar to the point of professionalism. Very nice.

Ray, they all said it… Great video…

Congrats Ray, very good stuff!

The only quibble from my perspective, the trains could be slowed down some more.

VERY impressive, Ray. Jean really likes all the rock work and trestles. You did a nice job editing!

Ray awsome video. You did a great job with the video and the layout looks great.

Thanks guys! I had fun making this video (despite constant interruptions by jets, helicopters, lawnmowers, barking dogs, etc.) I really enjoy shooting photos and video of the layout.

Thanks too for the suggestion, HJ! I’m always open to advice on how to do things better.

Ray, you’re welcome.
The other thing that works for me: have someone else operate the train while you film, that way the operator will be blowing the whistle and clanging the bell at all the right places, at all the right times. Works best with a buddy who knows how it works on the real railroads.

Unfortunately I didn’t have that option. In fact, I haven’t installed a receiver in the 4-6-0 yet so that was a real pain. I had to get the train way back from where I wanted to shoot, stop it, turn on the camera, run to the power pack and start the train rolling, etc. This often required numerous “takes” too.

With the RS-3 I could control it with the Revo so that was a lot easier. However, I discovered I needed to stand away from the camera when operating it, because the camera was picking up the sounds of the beeps whenever I pushed a button!

Made my day thanks for sharing!

Ray, truly inspirational!
