Large Scale Central

I'm looking to put together a 6 day G Train Event this Aug at th

Anyone interested, I think it would be fun to get Forum people together for a week of G Scale ? No ? Location is centrally located,

I think we could even squeeze in a live steam table layout if someone wanted to bring it. Ive got the floor covered,

but am always open to new ideals.

for easy access from, MASS, CT. VT. ALL OF NY. NJ PEN.

Great Hotels, Food and other interesting things to do with Family close by and lots of shopping for the wifes.

NY state Trolley Museum rides, Catskill Mnt RR Train rides all very close. could be a very cool event for G guys and family to get together and have Fun.

Dutchess county Fair would be the location on RT 9 in Redhook NY…Send me some Emails and let me know, if so I will move forward with some ideals for it.

It sure would be fun to meet some of you folk and run trains together and talk trains all week. Just a thought

Last years Train Display at the Fair.

Nicky, are you gonna be up to 5-6 days plus all that work setting up and tearing down? I refuse to put you in the prayer chain for 6 months again! :stuck_out_tongue:

Nick I like the idea. If a week is too long you can always do a long weekend. We have the Sussex County Fairgrounds by me. They have some good size buildings a green house and lots of space. There is also the Orange County NY Fairgrounds and lots of shopping around that area.

The event would go on with the Fair, You wouldn't have to stay all week. 1 day, 2 days what ever time you wanted to be there for.

Fair is open 10am to 10pm everyday. One of the guys in our club asked me to look into it cause every time he went to York he could never run his

Trains there. Just a ideal, whether the event happens or not we will still be at the Fair set up that week.

No Allen just set up and tear down then depending on the amount of attendees I just sit back and enjoy the Trains running.

I wouldn’t need to be there all the time.

Nick,
You left out the dates
Unfortunately, August is one of my busy times at work.
Good to see your club is pretty active promoting large scale trains

Nick

Thanks Guys, I didn’t realize there might be this much interest in this event. Thanks for all the Emails and i’m working more on it now
that I’ve gotten so many Emails.
Who would have thought there were so many Large scalers in this area…

Nick There are a lot of G scalers around. Its funny when I first started thought was the only one. Turns out there are at least 15 people with garden layouts within a 40 min drive of my house. Most are within 20 minutes. Im sure there are more that I have not met. It would be great to one of the conventions out this way.
Nick What days are you around? Would love to get together sometime.

Shawn,

I’m finding out there are a lot of Large scalers around here and thats cool. I’m usually around and not hard to get a hold of, you have my #

I hope your still planning on coming up to Middletown in March ? I wanted to see if you would bring your newest little live steamer you built,

A couple of guys in the club and myself are interested in seeing it and how it operates. We have no live steamers in the club so it

would be a treat to see it run.

Nick

Nick,
Great Idea! I know the WNYGRS ( http://wnygrs.com/index.html ) tends to set something up for the Erie County fair south of Buffalo NY. they also set up in some trains for the holidays in a Botnatical Gardens someplace in the Buffalo area too. These guys also set up for a few of the train shows locally as well as hold open houses at their homes thru the summer.

Chas

How come more of you guys don’t live on the “West” side of the states? Our club is looking at doing the fair this year, but we put up an outdoor set-up like you find in our back yards. The Kootenai County Fair only runs for 5 days the last week of August. We haven’t done a display there for several years, but everytime I see someone who had seen the display they always ask why we haven’t been back. Hopefully this year will be different.

Nick I will be off both days. I will be their for at least one of the days. I will bring my Project engine with me. I just finished it (added wood to the outside of boiler) I was thinking about bringing my scratch built Climax, log cars and work caboose.

Im off Sunday, monday and tuesdays, we will have to get together.

Nick I would love to bring the Pizza layout to the show except for that 3K drive getting there. Kinda a tough weekend trip.

I know a place you can stay, free room and board :)

Nick- Sounds like a great idea. I’m not sure if the dates will work for me, yet.
