I have Illustrator CS5. I need to take a multi colored RR logo and disect it to create cutter paths for a vinyl cutter for each color to create the logo in multi layers of cut vinyl.
It used to be simple steps in IL4 ( export EPS paths for cutting ) IL4 won’t run on my new MACs
That command is no longer there. So now how do you get the EPS paths?

I don’t have CS5, just the original CS - but they might at work. I’ll try and remember to ask for you. All I know is that for text you select it all then “Convert to Outlines”.
Adobe have “Dumbed Down” Illustrator. Now that they have the “pay-as-you-go” scheme in place, several of the components of Design Studio have been DD-ed as well. The suggestion to Convert to outlines (or convert to paths) is a good one, as then you can grab individual letters and shapes and move them around as you need.

I run Flexi-Sign which is a sign program similar to Illustrator/PhotoShop/AtuoCad all rolled into one.
If you send me an .ai file I can impoort it do whatever you need and expost it as any version of Illustrator.
Since my program is made to output vector files for vinyl cutters its pretty easy for me to do.

@Scott I’m envious of Flexi-Sign. It won’t run on a MAC. In fact if you want to run on the MAC your basically SOL. I do have “SignPost” that I run my 24" cutter with, But it has to have a vector file (.EPS ) to cut to. I will take you up on the offer to separate this file. It is currently as a layered .PSD photoshop file, and could stand a good cleaning up of edges.
I still want to figure out how to take a basic .jpg image, in PS, Get the layers into Illustrator, and output Vector cutting paths. I know that it can be done, I just can’t figure out all the steps, in the right order or progression. Was east brezzy in Il 4.0.
