SPRINGFIELD — Illinois Amtrak riders may soon be able to go online when they get onboard.
While free Wi-Fi is common on passenger trains serving the East and West coasts, Illinois officials are just now beginning to investigate bringing Internet service to the trains rolling across the Land of Lincoln.
Bids on a proposal to study what it will take to install and maintain broadband access in all of the passenger trains crisscrossing the state are due in mid-June.
