Ike hits St. Louis region

I wish I could say Ike missed me but it did not. Here in Belleville the rain was poored down and the wind made it go side ways. Took a 24 foot by 2’ branch of an ash tree and set it on top of my neighbors carport. So instead of enjoying trains at Andy and Jane Clarke with the rest of the Gateway Garden Railroad Club. I am eating my pasta salad with a fine wine ment for Jane Along with one sore back and arms that feel like I did a million push ups. But thank the Lord no one was hurt. Just a demolished fence section on my property and some missing shingles and bent up guttering on the nieghbors house. And a whole lot of tree limbs piled up for an adjuster to see. So if you get an ash tree branch going east it was probably mine and you can keep it.

I kind of with I had a woodworking shop, can make a slew of Ash baseball bats for next season. God knows the Cardinals can use some!

Todd

Glad to hear you and your neighbors got through it ok. Our son and daughter-in-law live in Tyler, TX and got hit too but had no significant damage.

Todd, you were missed today, am sorry you missed it… However, am glad you and yours are all well… Trees, carports, gutters, etc, can be replaced, you and your family cannot… We did get 36 people to show of the 42 signed up, so considering the weather this morning, I think that was pretty good…

We only wound up with an inch and 1/4 of rain here, so things were not too bad here, was muddy tho, especially where we had just been working on the railroad… Had one little wash-out, which will be easily repaired, once the ground dries up alittle bit…

The wind did dry out the grass areas some, so walking around on the grass wasn’t bad. Trains did run…

Wet and soggy here in Chicago land. I can almost swim in my car 'cause she leaks water in heavy rain.

Rain and wind cleaned out a lot of the dead branches from trees around here. Lots of pick up. We did loose a burning bush that was at Consolidated, so landscape will look different for the OPs session.
