Identify this engine for me please

I was out on Evilbay the other night and I came across this engine listed and it look real odd to me. It is a 2-6-0 and they have it listed as a bachmann engine, but it has a Wagontop boiler with only two domes. All the 2-6-0 Mogul’s I could find that Bachmann made have straight boilers and 3 domes. Is this some based engine or did bachmann make this years ago. From the photos I can’t tell it is was bashed or not. Just wondering.

Here is the Ebay item number if anyone wants to take a look.

Its a bashed Big Hauler,

Someone took a Bmann 4-6-0 and shortened the boiler and reworked the pilot to make a kitbashed Mogul, not a bad job either !

Hey Dan,

Looks to me to be a kit-bashed 10 wheeler

That’s kinda what I thought. It’s going for 50.00 right now, which I guess is a good price. The only area that I thought I saw any cut marks was on the running board. The boiler looked pretty good, and I could not see any cut marks on the chassis. Not to shabby for sure. But I am looking for a 2-8-0 straight boiler for a conversion I am working on. That’s about as hard to find used as finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

That might look like a bargain…BUT…the big question with used B’mann stuff is…which drive is in it.

If it is anything but the latest drive…and how do you find that out ?..avoid it.

This is the trouble with Evil Bay…you can’t be sure what you are getting, until it’s in your hands…

Always remember “Let the buyer beware”

Dan,
If it’s not too small Aristo’s C-16 has a straight boiler, you might find an old delton boiler on fleabay.
