I will be off line

… for the next week. Going to be at the IPC (International Paralympic Committee) World Cup at Whistler Olympic Park. Too many other things to do, no time for the Internet.

This just to pre-empt the “Where is HJ?” posts.

Of course I could take the laptop, there is WiFi access; but we have so much fun without that it’s really not on.

The silence will be deafening

Yep, the Ventilators will feel deprived of their rightful opportunities.

HJ,
feel free to do a little yodelling for me.

I'm on my way.

Sorry Tim, can’t help you with the yodelling. But if the Aussies compete I’ll cheer them on.

Back, after I dealt with a bout of the flu, too.

It was quite an eye opener to see paralympic athletes at the WorldCup level. I didn’t get to shoot as much video as at the FIS WorldCup since we were a bit shortstaffed and HICOS (he in charge of section) had to work too.

Anyway a short video from the IPC WorldCup and the start of a miniseries from from the FIS WorldCup with a wonderful sunrise and sunset.

HJ,
welcome back. I did not remember skiing being so exerting. These guys really make it easy considering their handicaps.

Tim,

I do a fair amount of XC skiing, but seeing these athletes in action sure gave me a completely new appreciation for the word “determination”.

Part of the competition was biathlon and seeing the perfect shooting results the visually impaired came up with and how they handled the heavy traffic around the entrance/exit section of the penalty loop (for those who missed the target) was just incredible.

BTW the organizers had set up a “have a try” area with one of the laser guns used by the VI competitors. Perhaps I would have had more success shooting prone instead of standing - I hit only 2 of 5 targets. Aiming strictly by the pitch you hear and holding things steady would take some extra practice.

hehe

As a kid, I had quite a reputation for shooting. Haven’t tried it since wearing bifocals.

Well Tommy, you should try it blindfolded with one of those Laser guns. He he he. :stuck_out_tongue:
