I love my dogs

But not at the moment

Ralph: better on the RR than in the house! That is where the cat (that Cat) brings his mouses! Oh, I forgot to say they are still alive and he lets them loose!

The other night I’m watching the TUBE and out of the corner of my eye I see something flyup in the air, it’s him with a dead mouse!

Paul

I was pretty lucky. No damage, other than knocking the platform roof for the depot over.
Buggers work fast. Five minutes earlier it wasn’t there.

Is that Rooster?

“Is that Rooster?”

YIKES!! I was thinking the same thing. It looks too much like that scruffy avatar on his posts. Calling David Russell! Calling David Russell!

Can see why you are miffed, Ralph.

Yours,
David Meashey

Turkey? Did they get it or bring it home? Our dog drags home every road-kill it can find on our morning walks…The way she bounces you’d think she’d found gold!

Cargo!!! Get that reefer car out there and it’s dinner for all your three-inch citizens.

But wow, that is a hazard I had not thought of. I am still worrying about the deer.

I worry most about the midget mafia… Kim’s dogs just walk on the RoW, the stray cats just knock stuff over trying to catch the goldfish, but the kids trample stuff trying to steal other stuff… I’m wondering if stringing telegraph lines hooked to an electric fencer would help? (Except I’d probably end up being the one getting nailed!)

Probably not road kill. My oldest dog is quite the hunter. I used to call the front yard “The Killing Field”. Dead animal parts everywhere. I once found three cat heads in the same day :open_mouth: But she has slowed down in her old age and the swifter animals are now safe. But the slower animals are still victims. I knew she had killed something yesterday, as her face & chest were pretty well covered in blood. By yesterday evening she had been in the creek and cleaned herself up. The dogs stay out of my GRR, for the most part. I guess she decided to leave me a “gift” The one with her tongue hanging out is the guilty party. She’s about 12 years old now. Ralph

One thing sold for deer control and might work for the midgets as well, is a motion-sensitive sprinkler. http://www.amazon.com/Havahart-5265-Detector-Sprinkler-Repellent/dp/B000BO71NY

Dogs would probably just play in it.

I didn’t think it worth a picture but Wednesday last week Duchess (the husky) supplemented her diet with a fresh pheasant (hundreds of them in the Provincal Park). Feathers all over the yard and all the rest … gone.

Welllll, it did show up again a little later and I was not impressed! Nope no damage to the railroad. :open_mouth:

I'm sure I've not seen the last of this bird ;) It was too windy today to start a fire and dispose of it. I did bury it. But with dogs, that is only a temporary solution :) So I hope by the time they dig it up again, I can build a fire. Ralph

Ralph, I think with the look on her face she’s saying Medium rare please…

GEEZ and I thought my 2 Cocker Spaniels were bad they only leave me presents usually along the mainline that they made themselves and that’s why I call it the Rock Root and Dog Poop Railway. There are plenty of all 3. Lucky for me my pups don’t kill things else I would need to rename the line but somehow The Rock Root and Bloody Mess on the Rails Railway doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Ralph,

Burying is one thing, when it gets recycled through the dog you’re in for a “little” surprise.

Despite all the fun comments I have to say that it is my experience that when a K9 is on a natural diet (raw meat and bones) the stools become a non issue. After 3-4 days in the sun/air they turn a white color and when stepped on or smacked with a shovel they turn to powder and disappear into the ground.

The nice ripe road kill that all dogs love so well is a little different matter. It still dries and disappears on schedule once eliminated but while still in the dog can produce some stunning olfactory effects on bystanders.

My dogs love turkey
but Ralph, please don’t ship that
on to me .

Rick

Ralph burying it is just like adding BBQ sauce in dog terms. Just makes it that much more desirable.

My Chow and our cats used to wage pitched battles but now its more of a Cold War. Lots of grumbles but little action.

The things our pets do really keep us all laughing. I’m just glad we don’t have any chickens or ducks living around us or our lab would be all over them in a heart beat.

Our doxie is lazy and only chases the cat once in awhile. She’s fenced off from most of the property, including the layout.

The neighbor’s dogs fig under the fence every so often but have only dug a couple holes chasing gophers. The gophers are a bigger problem than the dogs.

The best thing I found for gophers is a high powered pellet rifle. .177 or .22 makes a good gopher cleaner outer

Then on the other problem:
In order to clean up after my best buddy is the use of all those pesty plastic bags.
One on the hand of choice and one to place the land mines in.
I have to mention that the bag that is placed on the hand should be checked for holes.
You don’t want a bag with holes.
Trust me on this one!
