I have succumbed to the dark side of the Force

Last Monday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOIUoJEzsP8 Last night, 2:34 AM (I couldn’t stop):

What have I done? :open_mouth:

Welcome to the Brotherhood of Burnt Fingers  Nice little Ruby. I hope it runs well for you.

It’s been almost a year since I boiled any water in my Shay. Spent last winter weathering and detailing it, then got too busy over the summer to run it. Had hopped to get in a few winter runs this year, but 24+ inches of snow and the resulting ice pack on the track have put my railroad to sleep until a good thaw.

Yeah…I don’t actually have a permanent outdoor line, so I’m waiting for the 6+ inches of snow to thaw so I can set up a loop on my driveway (12x60–should be fun).

I actually wasn’t even looking for a live steam engine…but, when faced with a $100 Ruby kit, well, I couldn’t resist

The old “Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated” thing?

At that price I wouldn't have been able to talk myself out of buying it either ;) Ralph

IT LIVES!

Ran it tonight…made five or six loops of a 8x15 foot oval despite an absolutely massive steam leak (forgot to tighten the nut on the steam line from the throttle–oops). No video…it was too dark outside at 9 PM. I’m trying it again in the morning with a tightened throttle line–I’ll let you guys know how it does.

THRILLED beyond belief!

Nice I hoping to fire my switcher up tomorrow.

IT LIVES

So Geoff, when shall we christen your railroad with a REAL steam engine?

Welcome to the world of LS. My wife also bought me a Ruby kit for Christmas. Got it built and took it to DH and ran great. I did buy the bigger cylinders while at DH. Have not got them installed yet. Hope you enjoy running LS. Later RJD
