Large Scale Central

I am new here. Hello to all.

Guys, Sorry, I didn’t mention, when I last visited this layout, the trains were battery powered. I don’t know exactly what he was using for batteries, but I never ran them down playing with the trains for a couple of hours. You had to walk along with the train, which was kinda fun. So the control was probably loco link maybe. Stan should know, that’s where I met him for the first time.

Thanks Paul. Appreciate the update.

Thanks for the information. I figured he was battery. I have both but I only have 300 feet of mainline.
I really enjoy walking with the trains. It adds a lot to stay connected.
I had lithium batteries installed last year and pulled the NiCads out. That was a good decision!

Boomer, well while you are playing in the dirt, those of us in wetter climates are playing in the mud.

Wow! You got dirt! I’d have to pay to have some hauled in, I’ve got Rocks, sand and silt.

I’m just SE of Tucson.

Welcome Aboard.

John

Thanks guys for those wonderful pictures. Really cool…

Stacy,

It seems it would be difficult to do a desert theme RR in Annapolis. Too much rain there, isn’t it? My sister lives there. Easiest to go with the climate you are situated in, but I’m sure you know the area better than I do. My Jolida tube amp is made there.

Jerry, are you saying we should “grow where we are planed”?

Perhaps Jerry, but the challenge is there none the less. Yes, it rains here and snows here, but it rains in deserts too. Not much, but it does rain. I believe what I am after is difficult but not impossible so long as I am realistic. I reside near the bay, so the climate here is fairly decent. However, when I do this outside train, I won’t be in Annapolis. I will likely live further north in MD or southern PA and far west in any case.
