Large Scale Central

I am new here. Hello to all.

Name is Stacy. I have been into trains since birth. LOL Actually, my first train set was a Christmas present from my grandmother. I was only 7. I used my parents old dining room table and constructed my own railroad in HO. It was grand. I had one GE center cab engine and one Pullman passenger car and one tunnel. Yep, that’s it, but I played with that engine until she got fed up with me and put me out to pasture. I think I was 8 by then. LOL

Presently, I model in G gage with a modern European railroad. I am modeling a prototypical Austrian/German federal railroad. I have three modern Taurus engines done in four different railroads and a complete ICE train set as well. Basically my goal was to model this with a winter scene in the mountains. Really quite beautiful, but far from done. Actually, I am more into my American railroad now as far as getting all the goodies together. I need Dash9’s. Lots of Dash 9’s. LOL. I am modeling a desert scene from BNSF’s mainline running outside CA into Arizona. This will be an outside railroad as I am sure it will require huge amounts of land to replicate the desert scenery of cacti and sage as well as sand and canyons.

I have a deep love of railroading a great deal of respect for the men and women that work in the industry. Our country was built on the backs of those railroads and model railroading is just one way I show/demonstrate my respect for the industry. I know I am far from the expert up in here and I am sure I will learn much. From the little I have read thus far, I’d say I am in real good company and I look forward to meeting/talking with you fellow model railroad posters.

I absolutely love BNSF. I like CSX and NS. I really like modern freight and Inter M. However, I also have a love for UP’s Challengers. I mean they really were the epitome of what railroading was all about. Noisy, dirty, hard to work on, but totally beautiful as far as how they were engineered. Just massive power and it took a bevy of RS-3’s to try and out pull / perform a Challenger. So, for my fellow posters into steam, let it be known I admire and respect steam. Whether in miniature or real.

Favorite place in railroading: Anywhere trains run on this earth. I love train spotting and talking with fellow spotters. I rarely argue and most always get along with everyone. Easy going and above all else, loyal to our hobby.

Best wishes to all in here, Stacy

Welcome aboard Stacy.

Welcome aboard, Stacy. You have the midwatch. Bart has the coffee going down in the Goat Locker. It was made during the midwatch last night, so it should be just about right. Go pick out a rack, put your gear on it, then come join us for a bull session around the stove at the station. The 10:27 should be along soon, if she ain’t late, again.

One other thing, you don’t have to be crazy to hang out here, but it sure helps.

Thanks Steve. I’ll sure be waiting on 10:27, but in the meantime that coffee sure smells great and the conversation would be welcomed relief from all the depressing news on TV lately.

BTW, I am a retired Marine…Crazy? That’s an understatement. LOL

Semper Fi, Mac. The best part of my Navy career was as a Corpsman with the Marines. 3/5, 1/1, Charlie Med, The Rock, Parris Island. I retired as a Chief aboard USS Vincennes (CG-49).

Before the Navy, I was an 0311, made LCPL twice, and yes, she was worth it.

Welcome aboard!

My sincerest and profound thanks for serving. I have nothing but the highest respect for all military and the Navy is no exception. I worked on F4’s as a Plane Captain. That was about the best time of my life in the Corps. I never arose in rank, but what I learned allowed me to retire and work in the private industry as an aviation technician. I enjoyed it all. Again, thanks for the nod Steve.

Thank You Chuck.

From what I read late last night, I agree. I have much to learn and I love talking railroad talk. Either in scale or the real deal. Thanks again and I look forward to talking with you.

Stacy

We all learn, just don’t be fearful of mistakes, they’re the best teachers. And welcome aboard.

And from one veteran to another, thank you for your service!

Welcome aboard Stacy.

Welcome
Is it tru that Marines never die they just smell that way?

Welcome Stacy, you will like it here!

Welcome and hello, Stacy:)

Welcome and dont be afraid to share your work. We love pictures…

Welcome Stacy. If you want to run some time, come on over - I’m not all that far from you. I’ll even invite Ken down and we can all play trains.

Welcome Stacy… Greatest bunch of train nuts in the world here. A couple of ol’ sore heads, but you will figure them out, even they are OK most of the time. MY nearest real RR is the BNSF transcon @ Gallup and into AZ, your kind of running… The D&S is 30 miles away, for great steam running, and the C&T about 90 miles east. If you ever get to this neck of the woods ( Northwest New Mexico), give a shout out.

BTW: Keep January of 2015 open for Mik’s Build Challenge 2015, You will love it.

I also Crew on the D&RGW 315.

Welcome Stacy!
