Hurricanes and Trestles

For those of you who are concerned about building permanent structures in hurricane prone areas, here’s a bit of an update for you.

I built my trestles in the winter of 1998 and installed them in 1999. They are made out of pressure treated lumber held together with common steel brads and polyurathane glue. The trestles are partially buried, the foundations set on concrete pads and covered over with about 3 inches of soil.

4 years later, they survived Hurricane Isabel intact.

My only concern remains a hit from a falling branch.
