Hundreds of thousands French go on strike

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090129/wl_nm/us_france_strike

One of the French union officials was quoted as saying “We need to sound a cry of anger”

We need to sound a cry of anger here too.
As of next week…I am down to a 4 day week. A 20% reduction in pay. Others are in much worse shape.
I don’t blame my employer. He has avoided layoffs and could have easily laid off at least three of his twelve employees.
I have friends who are working every other week. Their pay is reduced by 50% and can’t collect unemployment.
In NC you have to be off for two weeks.
90% of the bank CEO’s are still on the job. Despite bankrupting their institutions while lending money at up to 30 times what they paid for it.
They have driven the world economy into the toilet…and still have their jobs.
And many have collected large bonuses as rewards for their failure.
Where is our cry of anger and public outrage?

Welcome to the club Ralph. When the owner sat me down in a one-on-one to break the news that all managers were cut 20% I told him that I couldn't pay my mortgage before the cut. He was sympathetic but explained he had no choice. I thanked him for keeping me 4 days a week.

My dreams of making it up by selling excess stuff on eBay haven’t been going too well either.

2 friends of mine got layed off, dont know what there going to do in this shit-conomy, we’ve taken some big hits as well…

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090129/wl_nm/us_france_strike That's my question - they screw up BIG time and get rewarded by keeping their jobs as well as possible rewards, if I screwed up like that I'd be out of a job! The gov't gave Wall St all that money with no strings attached, there has been no positive affects on the economy yet the BIG THREE ask for a loan and congress wants to get out a rope! I live in Michigan (do not work in the auto business ) if the auto companies go under, so does Michigan! (and we won't be alone) One of the French union officials was quoted as saying "We need to sound a cry of anger"

I feel for the folks and having job cuts and also loosing a job. I do not see any of these folks rising to the occasion as they ask to sound a cry. The younger generation just follows in stead of leading. You all want change get off your duffs and do something about it. Later RJD
