Howard County Farm Heritage Stram-up

Mike brought his portable track to the Heritage Days weekend, and I persuaded trouble-and-strife (wife) to let me play trains.

Here’s my Accucraft EBT #12 warming up:

The mixed train got to see the fresh air, for the first time in a year.

Enough of my stuff. Jerry brought his C-16 (sorry for the poles in the pic!)

Jerry also had his Forney and the work train, seen behind my hoppers and new caboose:

Mike Moore had his Aster “Schools” double-heading with Bob Clark’s “King Arthur”. Same engine, different wheel arrangement.

The same Bob Clark is working with WuHu, and ran their IC 4-6-0 “Casey Jones” straight out of the box.

Pete
Looks like you had some fun!
Were there many people claiming not to know you can have live steam so small?

Were is Howard County located?

@ Mr Thornton - whenever I look at the EBT mike I can see how easy it would be for AccuCraft to make the White Pass mike…

And as for the ‘Casy Jones’ - wow!

We need some movies here, Gentlemen.

tac, ig, ken the GFT & The Monosodium & Glutamate RR Boys

The movies weren’t successful - my new smartphone isn’t as easy as I expected! I’ll make up a brief clip though. Jerry might have better ones.

I had thought of the White Pass mikados, which have 44" drivers. However, there isn’t a lot of F scale stuff with ‘WP&Y’ written on it, so maybe they are reluctant to go into a new arena? Send them an email - or ask Jason Kovacs to order one specially.

Be aware that it took 4 years to get enough orders for the EBT mike (20+). Accucraft is a bit leery of engines with specialty appeal.

…and there’s a lot of F scale stuff with EBT written on it? All that is needed for the WP is a repaint of a few cars…

Sadly, I’m not rich enough to order non-coloured-in EBT mike to do a make-over on that would fool most people.

Your comment about ‘speciality appeal’ is very odd, since AccuCraft has made some VERY specialised models in the recent past. How many thousands of model railfans clamoured for multi-thousand dollar T-1? And with the best will in the world, there will only be fifty of the lovely new Selkirks at another heart-thumping price, as well as the #611

The point at which they start production is the 25-50 range, as far as I can tell. They won’t even start production at less than 20 [see: Dreyfuss Hudson.] There seem to have been a number of T-1s sold.

You have to remember that maybe 50% of the U.S. buyers just put them on the shelf to look at. [That’s why older, never-steamed Asters keep coming on the market.] I know a guy with about 25 locomotives on his shelves that he runs once in a blue moon. Sigh.

The Selkirks are a bit special, I think, as they are derived from an existing model where all the engineering and tooling is done. If you only have to make 1/2 of it new, it will be more profitable?

Video from Sunday activities. Enjoy!

Jerry took this photo of my #12 so I thought it should be added:

Pete,

Sweet shot, but you need to tighten up the number plate.

Al P.

The number plate is crooked, as are the classification lamps. Nice touch.

Here are links to video and photo album of the steam up at the Heritage Farm annual event

Along with the video I have photos to share of different aspects in and around the event:

Farm Heritage Album

A few highlights:
Chuck Wagon Food
Youth Rodeo
Sunset
Enchanted
Good Humor truck (great ice cream)
Antique cars (especially the running barn find on ebay)
and of course Mike and Barbara for the track and hospitality!

And thank you Al for also pointing it out. Amazing what a photo will do to point these out. I hadn’t noticed the smokebox plate!

The classification lamps insist on drooping, and don’t tighten up when upright - so I need to add some loctite. Just keep forgetting.

I think they are crooked because he’s pulling “g” on the curve .

That would be my excuse .

Mike

Scott, Love your red Cricket, I have a Bellflower one and just purchased a Berkley. There great fun.

Good stuff. I agree with Ya tac on the Casey Jones wow. Maybe someday Ill have money for one.
