🎻 How the golden age of rail travel transformed American music forever

not to me.
humans ar lazy. they tend to do things with the least effort possible.
they would not have made the effort to install a winch without the ability for “winching”.

judging by my own behaviour:
the first winch on my ranch appeared with a lever, the second together with a motor.
chains, ropes and cables just hung somewhere on the mashines or lay on the cargo-bed of a pick-up - but were not “winched” up.

Since google listeners decide what my homepage sees this popped up this evening. If it wasn’t for the glory days of TRAINS back then getting people to places, history may have been different I don’t know.
Hell of a read for me once again and not that it matters about anything these days but it does make you understand lingo from back in the day… I just love history.

However BD might wanna change his handle after reading this :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Coincidence? 🫨

Interesting read to say the least. Thanks for posting. The info fills a few gaps of the Hows and Whys I always find interesting.

BTW… “This is all Pete’s fault” he brought up Bessie Smiths railroad car and it all went into a rabbit hole from there!
