How do the 1:1 model railroaders do it?

Very similar on CSX every track has a name whether its a number letter or actual name. We have names for pretty much all control points and intermediates. If the intermediate doesn’t have a name its the distant too (then w/e the next CP name is)

If it has a name it is more than likely based on something that was there years ago. Some Signals and places are named after people who came up with the idea or died there.

As Far as our authority for movement, it sounds a lot easier than that but its all about what your used too. I have a buddy who works for the southern and we always compare/make fun of the way each others RR’s do things. For example On hand to me means going to hand signals.
