Im like Vic all myboxes go in the garbage with the exception of my engine boxes, if they still fit after I do a make over. Boxes just take up space and plus my stuff will never be worth anything since they all get painted etc…
Yep I’m like most get rid of all boxes ecept for the locos. Sure gave me a lot of space after I tossed mine out. Later RJD
I’m in the 'keep ‘em all’ camp. I have lots of attic space, so there’s no problem storing them. It does help a lot to have the box if you ever plan on selling any of your stock.
I store most of my cars in large plastic totes, piece of cardboard in-between layers. Even my Zephyer and streamline sets are in totes, then just carry them out to put on the track. Mostly I make my own stuff, I seldom buy anything new, so have few boxes. Since I have an old barn, they are out there.

Like Jerry I also store my rolling stock in plastic tubs. Makes it easier to take the equipment out to the track. I keep trains by sets such as log cars, coal cars etc: That makes it simple to set up a train. The only boxes I saved were the engine boxes with the styrofoam inserts in case I need to ship them out. The rest go into the redycle bin.

I will put them in the Attic, thanks Bruce
Well now that I have my 5 track coverd storage yard I no longer have to worry about having to carry cars and locos to the RR. Later RJD
Could we see a photo of your 5 Track covered storage yard, sounds great, thanks Bruce
I would like to but do not know how to post them here. Later RJD
RJ,
You just copy the location of where you have the picture at and paste it onto the message here.
After stumbling over my LGB boxes today I think I will see how well one will work as kindling for the woodstove. If it works I’ll burn all the rolling stock boxes!
Doug Arnold said:Just make sure they are empty. I hear the soot from LGB plastic can gunk up you chimney pretty fast :)

Well, I haven’t found a glue that works on their plastic so maybe it won’t stick to the chimney!

I’ve burned a few. Now the rest are going to be burnt at the county generator. (We don’t have a landfill in Spokane. We have a power-generating plant that burns all the garbage.)
I’ll start with the Chinese LGB knockoff box. Hopefully no one will breath the chemically laced fumes that come off it!
Well I’ll see if I can get some pics posted of my storage area. Bruce I sent you an e-mail Later RJD
