Holy crap

It takes some extra nerve to steal one of my videos from VIMEO and upload it as their own on YouTube, complete with the copyright notice and all. That is unbelievable!!!

[vimeo]http://www.vimeo.com/48743596[/vimeo]

God damn bastards!

Yes, I reported it to YouTube right away. The only reason I discovered it is because of Google Alert, which sooner or later reports all of the uploads on certain subjects I subscribe to. SOBs!!

nevermind

HJ,
last year by perchance, I stumbled upon a British model railroad retail site. Seeing a link to a particular Chinese sourced ‘clone’ of a well known German brandname, I opened the link and was confronted with one of my own You-Tube videos. I believed the link was an instore link to display the particular brand coach. I was not annoyed but in good grace the retailer could have asked my permission first prior uplifting the video. I would have gladly given him my blessing.

Alas, if it is on the web then it is fair game.

Tim,

In my book there is a huge difference between setting a link that leads to xyz video site and actually downloading someone’s video from one video site (VIMEO) and uploading it to another video site (YouTube) as your own.

As it states on the YouTube upload page

YT said:
Important: You must own the copyright or have the necessary rights for any content you upload. Learn more
On VIMEO it is even clearer
VIMEO said:
Please follow these rules: 1. I will upload only videos I created myself. + More 2. I will not upload videos intended for commercial use. See commercial options. + More 3. I understand that certain types of content are not permitted on Vimeo. + More

Still have questions? Read the full uploading guidelines.

Which of course doesn’t prevent any slimeball to come along and do just what “nevafilmtv” did. It will be interesting to see what YouTube does about this. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Didn’t somebody from this site post this video? Now it shows up as one of msn’s greatest hits.

Hmmmm.

My commiserations HJ.

I know exactly how you feel.

Thanks Tony,

One of the galling things on this matter: those a…holes at “nevafilmtv” (whoever they maybe) even have stupid ads running ahead of my video i.e they are making money off my stuff.

BTW I changed the settings at VIMEO; no more downloads of the source file and embedding will be blocked on all as soon as I get all of them reset.

Response from YouTube so far:

Copyright Infringement Notification Confirmation

Thank you for taking the time to submit your copyright complaint to YouTube. We will review your submission shortly.

Here is the information you filled in:

PS: Please note that nice little notice in my embeded sample above.

Now I just need to try how the URL linking works https://vimeo.com/48743596 and how the embed code is blocked, very nicely on both counts.

H-J - 'nevafilmtv are based in St Petersburg Russia. You can sue them till you run out of money, nobody evers win against slimeballs who do not acknowledge the existence of laws outside Russia.

tac, being serious for a change

tac,

Looking at the other stuff on their channel I suspected that, even though their YouTube channel lists:

While they’re more notorious than others, they are not the only ones. :frowning: :frowning: Soooooooo one adds what can be added to make it a bit harder with the pretend circus.

Them’s the guys who give railfanning a bad name. So excited he can’t steady the camera. :open_mouth:

Then he gets home and tells the wife all about it. She gives him one look and says: “That is wonderful dear, at least you still get excited about some things!”

Reminds me of the idiot on the TV show a while back. Even sounds the same. Talking about tank cars…“BOOM!” if you have a wreck! All excited about some diseasemals…“Aren’t you scared to death running this loaded train down this grade?”
Had a sprocket loose, I believe.

Yeeeesssss!

I can’t complain about this swift action!

HJ we are getting that message again!! Where does the “The Old Railfan” live, maybe it is time for a visit!

I live in the northern part of the Okanagan Valley, town called Coldstream. One could call it a “suburb” of Vernon, BC.  Estimated driving distance from your place 360 miles via Vancouver.
