Yes, I like it, too!

BTW what makes you think that’s the end of the thread? There will be more News out of Germany from the insolvency proceedings.
As a for instance, so far there is no word on the outcome of the dicussions between the trustee and the banks regarding resumption of production and shipping in Nürnberg.

Good Morning All,

Bob, I think that picture that you have posted is worth a thousand words. AMEN from Cape Cod!
Happy Railroading,
Ron

It had better not be the end of the thread… but maybe the end of letting our personal differences get the better of us? Theres a lot more thats going to come out of this. Were in a lull information wise until the courts issue their findings. That could be months. So until we get some more real information, maybe we should all enjoy a nice hot cup of Shutthehellup, Mmmm… goes great with donuts!

Hi Vic,

Quite right!

More coming up in the near future.

PS that Doughnut looks like it’s from the Nucluar Bakery.

DOH!

HJ heres from your “nuclear bakey”

Mmmm…forbidden donut!

Hi ALL again,
Sorry if I was unclear in my last post, please don’t think that my last post ment to END the THREAD. What I did mean was END the personal attacks and get back to the news of LGB.
Happy Railroading,
Ron

Ron,

No problem, it was clearly understood.

I’m waiting for some more News out of Germany.

HJ
Thanks for your reply. I just like to sit back and read the threads and learn what I can.
Thanks again,
Ron

Guys,

Some of you are starting to look like a bunch of vultures setting on a tree limb just waiting for the death of LGB. I have no doubts that this would not be the same reaction if it was any other company. What is the pleasure in this? I personnally see nothing in this that would bring pleasure to me, or really anyone else. This could be the start of an avalanch that takes other companies with it. The down side of this is that if all the speculation is true, some one is going to find out what the inside of a German Jail looks like. I in all honesty do not think that these folks were that stupid. If they were they will pay.

I do not see LGB going away, most of the others that have gone through this have managed to survive and come back even stronger. So if your waiting for them to go away or dissapear don’t hold your breath just yet.

And if what some of you are wating for does come to pass, and LGB goes to the auction block, like Delton or some of the others it will be intersting to see who goes and who bids on what.

I get a lot of enjoyment out of this hobby, I am starting to get less enjoyment out of some of the web sites that are here for the purpose of promoting the hobby, they have started to become a bully pulpit for a lot of folks who seem bent on being around to wittness the end of the hobby.

Pitty the newbie that logs on to one of these sites looking for friendship or help.

Bob has kept this site pretty lose but yet there are some that keep ignoring his calls for sanity. I would hate to see this site get like Supper Clean, and Rabid the other two sites.

Ron,

Speaking strictly for myself: I see this as a “regime change”, the banks finally said “that was one step too far”. But they had even agreed to a loan repayment moratorium (Spring of 2005 to Aug 31 2006)
Not smart if one blows those kind of concessions; from what I hear it is really hard to outsmart the banks.

Yes, a regime change will be good. If it follows the lines of ROCO and Märklin the LargeScale community will be the winner ( please note there is a “scale” in there.  )

BTW if you read the translations of what has been revealed so far and compare them with the “spin” that has been dished up from “certain sources” hmmmmmmmmmm “interesting” is just a start! Unless you believe that all the others are lying??

The following is just my opinion but…

No one is waiting for LGBs death and none of us are amused by all this, but it is a serious thing when the company that defined large scale is goes up in financial smoke.

LGB as a large scale manufacturer will survive, what it becomes it is the $64,000 question?

Now whatever shakes out of all this it seams very very clear that when ELP re-emerges from bankruptcy, it will:

A: NOT be run by the same managment structure it currently has, it will NOT be the same company that so many have come to know over the last 30 years.

B: That it WILL have a SIGNIFICANT portion of its manaufacturing done in China, all indications are that its going to happen, sooner or later.

The sooner we understand that several big changes are going to occur, the easier it will be to accept those changes when they occur, and that no matter what else comes out of the legal aspects, we will have a very different company called LGB making large scale trains.

I’m saying this because I detect here and there a sense that somehow all this trouble will dissapate like the morning fog in a Bavarian valley and all will be clear and bright in Von Trappe household once again…that aint gonna happen, not with all that the entanglements described so far…

Elsewhere I described another company that I hope to God doesn’t become a parable for LGBs future…

…anyone remember what happened to “Schwinn Bicycles”

nope... I missed that one, what happened?

Schwinn Bicycles, from 1930 thru the 1970’s was the largest bicycle manufacturer in the USA, they were also the industry leader. They were sold at mom and pop stores and had massive customer loyaly for decades. However in the early 80’s they failed to address market shifts and when the mountain bike craze of the 80’s and 90’s came, they were decidedly behind the curve, only at the end of the 90’s catching up, but by then they had lost market share, made in China bikes from Trek, Giant, and others were now the clear leaders in the market. Bad managment, bad investment decisions, lead to the closing of the Chicago Co. doors and bankruptcy court. The entire company assests were bought by an invesment group that proptly redirected the companies product towards Big Box retailers, and dumped most of their decades long mom and pop dealers, so now Schwinn is still around, making crappy bikes no serious rider would take off a curb, to sell at crap merchant stores like Hell-mart for cheap.

I hope to God that LGB doesnt end up being sold next to Scientific Toys at the local Toys-R-Us …If you get my drift of what could happen…

Of course this would be a worst case “Asteroid hitting the Earth” equivalent scenario only…

That, sir, would be sufficient cause for a necktie party ...

Up date:

re: shipping ex factory

Shipments from existing stock have resumed! One of the German RhB Forum members received his ordered spare parts - for kitbashing/scratchbuilding - on Friday, Sept.29th.

No word, yet, about resumption of production.
