Well for 20some odd dollars a Harbor Freight can be tried out, and if you dont like the results, then go with a more expensive model, like a Grex. To anyone else what kind of pin nailer do you use, and what size of pins? do they all shoot the same sizes? I have a Brad nailer , but sounds like the pin gun will be a better one to use.
The pins on the pin nailer don’t have heads. So they are easier to conceal. You just have to cross pin so that they hold. Cross pin, 2 pins at different angles.
I have the cheep Harbor Freight one, and 2 different boxes of good pins, not harbor freight pins. I would have to look, but I think I have 1/2 inch and 3/8, but I could be wrong.
You get what you pay for I truly believe that. So buy the best you can comfortably afford. That said I bought a cheap HF pinner and have had zero negative things to say. Says down to 1/2 inch pins but it has no trouble shooting 3/8. I’d don’t care how long a pin it will shoot its how short for most of what we are doing.
I do use the grex pins
I also have had ZERO problems with my HF nailers (pin nailer and finish nailer) using Grex nails. Don’t use HF nails or pins. I think that is what is perceived to be the problem.
I second that, or third that, or whatever. The HF pin nailer works just fine with quality pins, and a drop of the supplied oil, down the air fitting, before each use.
