As far as the too loud train shows and too smokey train shows, well? You've got a choice to put up with it or complain or not attend.
So far, I've mostly put up with it. Complaining just seems to get a smartass answer. Not attending? The kids do like our layout; it seems churlish not to be there. Mind you, we crossed one show off our list. The last time we were there, we were tearing down too slowly for a bunch of the host club members and they hit a couple of my modules as they backed their van into the arena to load up. No apologies; just 'get that stuff out of the f--in' way'. Contrast that to another show, where the club members cheerfully helped us unload, set up, tear down and load the van again. And said you're welcome and thank you for coming.

I've worked my fair share of noisy train shows and found that I was physically exhausted at the end of the day and even more so than working the store at the time. Mostly from listening to Thomas play over and over and over or to the Operation Lifesaver or what have you video playing on an endless loop. They were much louder than any sound system back then. Oh yeah, them things too. Lately, they seem to have turned the volume down, praise be.

Heh heh heh.....good one! What goes around comes around...
Steve,

“That settles that!”

The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard.

One question I do want to find an answer to, is: If travelling at the speed of light, would my tail lights work ?

They would work, but only you could see them.

I don’t get it. Was the cow, the pig, or the chicken supposed to go in and trip the trap for the mouse?

As for the gene pool? I’m glad there’s no lifeguard. Those who don’t belong in the deep end populate the bottom of it. I believe it’s called Darwinism. Works pretty well albeit a little slowly at times.

Mark,

For all I know they were supposed to take in the mouse as a refugee e.g. get him out of the danger zone.

OTOH what an odd household with a venomous snake having free range, but I guess the unexpected domino effect wouldn’t have worked without it.

I don’t know. Maybe we could use that lifeguard. It seems that all that sinks to the bottom of our gene pool drains out in Washington DC…too much loud Elvis and Beetles in their younger years…and besides they didn’t inhale…

I’m beeing so good that life is no fun any more…!!!

What can we do to get a good bit of research going, here…how about looking into that old railway in the desert in the Middle East…without getting into current politics…

Then of course we could look more closely into some industrial short lines…
