Hmmmmmmm ..... change is good?

Hi all,

Seems the natives are not as suitably impressed “over there” as would be expected. Wellllllllllll let’s see I remember one very major upgrade very many years ago that was “a bit of a problem”  , well as the saying goes “S… happens”.
But, now I understand Ric’s “Welcome” post a bit better.

HJ,
I wandered over there early this morning to see how things were going and noted that idler has finally taken the hint and removed me from the database as a member. I would have been extremely annoyed if I had of contributed to the site financially this year as the presentation is disgusting and extremely user alien. I found the background colour and text font to be very hard on the eyes. Also the inability to access older postings will surely dampen the resolve of even the most fervent site member. If it aint broke then do not try to fix it!!!

Tim, for some of us the old site was badly broken…almost unusable for me.

The font size and color has been fixed. The site has been sped up and they are working on migrating some of the active builder’s logs to the new site. What I saw were grown men Pssng into the wind to see which way it was blowing rather than working with the admin to resolve the issues. That’s all new software, all new server and it’s strange to everyone. I will bet that once the bugs have been worked out it will be a great improvement.

Warren,
barring personalities, I had no issues with the old site except for repetitive speed degradation issues. I have a high-speed broadband connection and at many times it was like being back on dialup. The advent of onscreen advertising (on first class member sites) surely did not help to improve download speed. Shad posted that advertising would not impact on download speed. As a webmaster he should know, but as a consumer I did not feel the advertising beneficial to an already overloaded server.

I joined this web page, and have found that the level of advertisement is always kept within a tasteful limit.
The other place is too comercial for me. It is too moderated by too many stooges also.
Bob, has a knack for setting limits that don’t seem confining. He believes in FREE SPEECH. We all respect his approach, and try to stay within the bounds of respect for others, and self respect.
I glanced at the “Changes” at the “T’other place”, but don’t see anything that appeals to me, over what we have here.

HERE, WE ARE ALL "FIRST CLASS", without a charge.......

DONT get into bashing the other site. Opinions on any changes kept in email ONLY.
