HLW - V&T cattle cars

Home for a few days…
Hope that the big brown truck with the V&T cattle cars from HLW that I ordered shows up before I have to go back out on the road…
Had a lay-over down in San Antonio two weeks ago & had a chance to get on line. Went by HLW’s site & saw they had them on sale( $30.00 each)… said they’re non-typical (what-ever that means) but I’ve been wanting some cattle cars to round out my HLW consists, so I had to order some… Now the wait… had hoped they’d be here before my week off, but no such luck…
dave…

Please post some photos of them , I have only seen the ad pics of them so far .
Its nice to be able to buy LS trains made in the USA .

Friday afternoon…
No big brown truck today…
I guess I’ll have something to look foreward to the next time I get home…
Maybe someone else will order some of the V&T cattle cars & post pix of them…
Back out on the road Monday morning & when I’ll get back home again, I don’t
have a clue…
Y’all keep those trains running…
Dave…

Have a good trip. I meed to order a motor block from HLW this weekend. Maybe they’re saving up their West Coast shipments!

Back home again… pulled in late this afternoon, was a good sight to see the farmstead after 5 weeks on the road…

The Big Brown Truck was by a few days ago and left me a present…
The HLW cattle cars finally arrived…
They are some nice little cars.
I was suprised to find that they came with metal wheels.
At the $30.00 price including metal wheels, I’d say they’re a bargain.
I’ll try posting some pix of them in the next couple of days.

Dave…

I can’t find these cars on their web site, does anyone have pics of them??? Nick Jr

While we wait for Daves pics , here is a pic at the web site .

I have always thought that the Hartland freight cars looked somewhat like the US Civil War period type . Which was/is a real plus to me . I lettered mine USMRy and W&A , and in my demented state , even recreated somewhat the Great Locomoti0ve chase , But I grew tired of rebuilding the covered bridge several times along with the boxcar on fire . haha , you don’t know if I am kidding or not !

Dennis, thank you for the pic, as I am tempted to get one if they look good with 1:20 scale stuff. STILL can’t find it on their web site, damn I better learn how this stuff works. Nick Jr

Compared to the AMS 1/20.3 cars that I did have , the Hartlands would look really small coupled to 1/20.3 rolling stock . To me they would be way too small .
I am a big Hartland fan , but , the Accucraft AMS and the new Bachmann 1/20.3 cars are beautiful works of art .

I ended up putting a picture in the photo gallery…

If someone will let me email the pix to them and post them
for me on this thread, I’d appreciate it…
I live near the end of the phone line and have very poor service.
two tin cans & a string is about the quality.
computer is old & I’m still running windows millenium…
takes forever to download anything…
Anyone willing to help post the pix would be appreciated.
Thanks…
Dave…

Go ahead and email them to me.

Warren,

Thanks.

Warren,

Thanks for posting the pictures for me.

Dave…

Thanks , it looks good to me . First that I have seen pics of , other than the web site , looks better in your pics . A freight train of Hartland freight cars , will look good . To me the Hartland power trucks are operating very well , here is my latest 3 “interurban” electric trains .

They are nice looking. The brake wheel seems to be in an odd place/position. Is there a prototype for that type of linkage? I have a few of their flat cars and I like them much.

Dave,

Did you already swap out the wheels with metal ones or did they come equipped with them?

-Brian

Those are pretty neat. Does anyone have measurements of them, or have a 1:20 boxcar they can put next to them for comparison?

Brian,
the metal wheels were on the car…
photo at H-L-W web site shows plastic ones,
so I was quite happy to see metal wheels on them.

Bob,
If someone will post the photo’s for me,
I’ll take some today and email the pix to them.
I’ve got a Big Hauler stock car that I’ll
take some comparison pictures with.

-18:00-

I’ve taken a few photo’s,
anyone willing to post the photo’s
for me, please let me know.
Thanks…

Dave…

Go ahead. I’ll up a couple of them tomorrow.

Cute little buggers, ain’t they.
Must be for haulin those mini cows.
