What is the scale of the Dutchess and Princess?
Closest scale would be 1/24, they look fine with 1/22.5 stock as long as you acept them as the smaller plantation type engines they are really most similar too.
These engines are not really based on any known prototype and are mostly built from retooled Delton molds.
They are nice looking little engines and can be detailed up if so chosen.
I learned fairly early in life never to ask a woman what the scale says.
Seriously, Hartland’s stuff is nominally 1:24, though to say any of their locomotives are “scale” would be a stretch.
Later,
K
Ok…
My plans were to use them as very small locomotives in my layout similar to the LGB Porter and Olahama
That should work.
Could it be - dare I say it - “Gummi” scale? (or is that snide remark reserved for another manufacturer?)

Considering that they are NKP models (No Known Prototype) and not claimed “scale model” of any known prototype that one could physically measure against, they are whatever the maker wants to call them.
They are Delton molds and Delton was made at a claimed at 1/24 scale, so if HLW wants to call them 1/24 then thats understandable. But they are caracatures of locomotives, not scale models so that gives them a certain amount of flexibility scalewise as theirs nothing to measure against…just as LGB has done with several of its toy products. I doubt anyone would try to get an actual scale out of anyone at LGBoA for that “Joe Cool” collectable thingie or any “Mars Flyer” type toy now would they.
They just are what they are.

I don’t know Victor but those American type 4-4-0s look like they are modeled after American type 4-4-0s and the forneys look like they might be modeled after Forneys but hey who can tell ?!!

JJ Nice try, but no cigar. As I mentioned yesterday in regards to the “G 45mm” logo, HLW uses the logo in their GR ad and at the same time they state the scale.
That’s quite a step up from “Suitable for G” BTW I guess you know that the “other mfg” advertised for a very long time that their wares are in 1:22.5, along with the extensive research they did for the models. Hmmm, just too bad that the research didn’t show in the end product and that the 1:22.5 scale was mostly wishful thinking and “clever marketing”.

Vic,
Yes, H-L-W are what they are. They don’t make fancy claims which, upon closer examination, turn out to be hogwash!
Could it be that they need to “beef up” (isn’t that where the BS comes from??) the marketing department with a few “creative types”?
Zing! Caught me a big one Victor!

About the time our guest fisherman arrived I noticed the distinct odor of troll…
You don’t suppose…Nah!..But then again…Hmmmmmmm…!!

I thought for a fleeting instant that was a site for Loudmouth Bass. With a truss for sagging confidence.
As per another thread I think I need new spectacles. When I do get new ones, once again they won’t be rose coloured.
