Hillary in '08

I saw a New Bumper Sticker “Run, Hillary, Run”, yesterday.

Democrats were putting them on their back bumpers.

Republicans were putting them on their front bumpers

Gonna be an interesting 2 years isn’t it…

I’m going to be sitting right here in '08. Wouldn’t miss it for anything. I just hope the Dems find somebody to run that isn’t controversial and has a chance of winning. The lineup so far for both parties leaves much to be desired…:frowning:

Personally, I would like to see Colin Powell run.

The Dems have it easy compared to the Repubs, who the heck are they gonna get to run that can distance themselves from the current admin enough to run on their own ideas. The only one I can think of with any kind of chance is John McCain, now a McCain/Powell ticket certainly would be interesting, except that the extreme right may throw some monkey wrenches in the owrks

The extreme right in the USofA needs to be nipped in the bud before it gets any worse. We’ve seen 8 years of what it’s like with them manipulating everything. I personally believe that a McCain/Powell ticket could draw enough moderates and center leaning liberals to overcome the influence of the far right. Beyond them, unless someone magically appears out of thin air, nobody is able to do that and elections would remain a battle of the extremes…far left vs far right with the center fractured and divided.

It all depends what the “lap dog” press does.

And what the meaning of the word “is,” is.

Then start praying to Mecca! The left has no fight in their soul.

Powell no way! He would not let the Special Ops in Somalia have a C-130 Spectre Gunship…This decision lead to “Blackhawk Down”, which cost me three close friends. Two got the Medal of Honor. The third only got a Silver Star but deserved the Medal of Honor.

I wouldn't bet on that. Politically they have a lot of fight....on the other hand they do prefer diplomacy vs military combat once in office.

Just don't understand the Middle Eastern Culture...do you?

Ok, I'm lost. My morning coffee hasn't kicked in yet :/ My comment is directed towards the US political right vs left. Nothing there is referenced to the Middle Eastern culture. As far as left vs right and the Middle East, I've never heard of a liberal Arab. I've seen a few that appeared docile and eating out of the hands of the US, but you can bet your bottom dollar somebody is going to "loose a few fingers" or worse if it suits that Arab's needs. We can never win a war in the Middle East as long as one radical remains alive. We can never win in the Middle East diplomatically either. All we can do is fence it in and let them solve their own problems...or exterminate themselves.

And now, Saudi Arabia wants nuclear technology to be shared with all the Middle Eastern countries…

If you play with snakes long enough you are going to get bit…!!

Warren today a promenant islamic cleric in Saudi Arabia has called for a suni jihad to support suni insurgents in Iraq against the Shia , if they do so will Iran issue a jihad in responce to support Shia Iraqis?, has it hit the fan? If it does I’m glad I bought a gas sipper.

Vic

The “Shiat” hit the Sunni fan a long time ago. I think the best bet is to sell even your gas sipper (you can die in them) and start lobbying for the return of rail transport. I think that is what will save our collective butts. It will probably need to be coal fired steam though. I am not joking. I started out to poke fun, but the more I think about this, the more the idea has merit.

Bring back the smell of coal smoke. There is now technology to scrub the particulates. Get the 611 out of mothballs, reverse engineer her and “Go for Broke.” Give the ragheads the international one finger salute.

The new head of the House Intelligence Committe doesn’t know the difference between Sunni and Shia. I don’t find that surprising. Neither do I, and my field of undergrad study was middle east history. He will learn, of that, I am sure.

So will I. My professor would be so proud.

Theres only one small problem with your coal proposal.

If ya bring back coal fired steam rail locomotives as well, I might just up and quit and get a job as a steally eyed railroad engineer. I’d love it, but my wife would start her own Jihad, against my backside!

It would be a small price to pay for the greater good. Someone has to do it. Thank you for volunteering!

There is not a great deal to do to convert diesels to using heavy bunker oil made from coal .
But right now , oil from the ground is cheaper , so let’s use all that up first , then fall back on OUR coal reserves .
And also start a sensible approach to so called climate change , do the tree huggers really have the answer ? To consider that puny man can affect the global climate is arrogance gone barmy . The top third of the earth–the northern hemisphere–contains enough trees to scrub CO2 down to normal levels . The sea is the main extractor of CO2 anyway . Challenge these morons , don’t just accept what they say–it all started off with a political party feeding the obvious loonies with this pap about global warming (they had to change that , it didn’t work quick enough, and could be shown to be a load of rubbish) . Now the politics of envy is trying to be used as a frightener , just so’s well known chancellors can put taxes up to fund their pet projects , usually to feed the idle so and so’s who vote them in , just to get the free ride .
Remember when climate change is mentioned to throw in the question “What happened to the hole in the ozone layer ?”

Don't forget the coming Ice Age that was the scare tactic of the 70's! I guess they think we have short memories!

OTOH, if we can prevent the Pea Soup Fog of the 40’s and 50’s that plagued London, why not?

Quite true , Steve , I remember them well , the pea soupers .
But they were worse in Birmingham where I come from , the centre of industry .
It did however do me a bit of good earning money off grateful drivers by cycling in front of them , leading them along the kerb line . But back then , I did not realise the significance of the evil muck I coughed up . We were accustomed to coal miners having black lungs , so ours were a bit sissy in comparison . D’you know , the muck hung like curtains down the bodies of cars , really odd to see . heaven knows how much muck was in the upper atmosphere then , but with everyone burning coal in domestic fires , there must have been rather more than there supposedly is now . I used to look forward to Sunday mornings when you could see for miles instead of a hundred yards or so , and that was not on a foggy day .
