Large Scale Central

High Line GIF - 4 Seasons

Not sure we support GIFs ?

Guess we don’t. Let’s try the link:

Hmmm . . guess I’ll have to host it elsewhere.

OK. This should work (except it opened in the same page so I had to massage the HTML):

/pthornton/Misc-pages/High-Line-Gif.gif

It’s a multi-page GIF of a section of the High Line in NYC - which is now a park. This spur into an old warehouse (30 ft above the street) hasn’t been gentrified.

More info, maps, etc., are here: http://www.thehighline.org/

OK, Pete, I think we are back to the problem with the name of the picture. To be on the safe side, I use only a max of 8 characters, and no special characters before the “dot” gif.

I don’t think so. I have lots of JPGs with long names. But we’ll try anything. This is named “high-line”, no caps, no spaces.

(When you post it as a link, it changes the ‘.’ to ‘-’ so I went back and made it .gif, instead of -gif.)

This one was uploaded to the Albums section - it doesn’t seem to mind the GIF type. But it doesn’t show all the images.

LSC does indeed support displaying animated gifs. I posted this one from your link (http://kbrooks.site.aplus.net/pthornton/Misc-pages/High-Line-Gif-948016f2-9961-4b6d-8b8a-31c6caf8d047.gif ) and it works just fine. There is something wrong with your links in your freight shed. Even though the link name says .gif it still is trying to load -gif which is unsupported. I would suggest to delete them and reload with a proper URL. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

edited further info* I did some further playing with this image. I loaded it into my freight shed and the behavior is exactly what you are experiencing. It can not be posted from the new freight shed. This is a problem for BM to look into. Sorry.

Joe,

Glad you confirmed my findings. I didn’t try to ‘insert image’ with the GIF hosted elsewhere - clearly it worked.

I found that the Freightsheds upload was corrupting the filename to xxx-gif instead of xxx.gif. If you say it was trying to load -gif even after I changed the filename, that’s probably where the bug lies.

Pete,

That’s exactly what it looks like it’s doing. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

Ive looked into the odd GIF problem and reported it as a bug. The file doesnt seem to upload as the correct type, so therefore it doesnt treat it as an image. I reported it to the package author. I suspect its either a bug, or something to do with the UNISYS licensing for GIF image processing, that the package author doesnt want to deal with. Details as they become available.

Film at 11?

maybe it depends on the source location?
