I saw a RR emerge from the snow over the weekend. Imagine that!
Oh sure. Where are the pictures?
Is it ready to run a train?
Its just a rumor.
Ran last Sunday and Yesterday at Tony Goatz’s.
No track cleaning, of course!.
Drained a few batts and had a good time.
One wreck–TG laid the 2-8-0 on its side.
Blame that one on the maintenance crew.

Been running and even rebuilding…now washing out due to rain…
I still can’t find mine!
Mine keeps disappearing and reappearing on a seemingly weekly basis. Problem with running when I can see it is that until we get a few solid days of warm weather, the back yard will continue to be too full of partially frozen “land mines” to safely walk.

I’ve got plenty of “land mines” in my yard too. Unfortunately mine were left by the dog :o
So Bob, why weren’t you out there running a train today???
That’s where mine came from. Fortunately he knows to stay on the grass, but that only works when it’s visible. Once the snow falls, one never knows where the dangers lurk.

Yep,
Here it is x2, with a frequent visitor thrown in. It’s a good thing the snow melts in stages and one gets to “harvest” in stages.
Yeh, me too. I can actually see most of my track. Still too muddy to get around, and my K-27 is still in its box waiting for Bachmann to tell me when to send it in to get the counterweights replaced. In the meantime, its time to start leveling track, and removing the winter’s flotsam. Looks like I’ve three bridges to widen as well, now that I’ve been able to measure them. And more snow predicted for Sunday and Monday. Gotta work fast.

OK Tony & John,
Let’s don’t be blaming me for the condition of Tony’s track. When we all ran two weeks ago it needed the track crew to do a little leveling after the snow. In fact, if I remember right, it was you, John, that made the comment “that even with battery power the track needs to be perfect”. Wasn’t it your LGB tender that kept coming off the track?
Anyway it sounds like you guys had fun, sorry I couldn’t be there but it was Chris’ birthday. See ya this Saturday at my house for the meeting. Come early and we can set up the garden expo loop and demo the battery power fot the club.

You didn’t fix it so it is still your fault. Nuf said!

A good argument for not floating your track…

No it is not agood argument for not floating your track. Where the problem that both John and Chuck are talking about is on boards and 4x4 placed about 3 feet in the ground, this system is to prevent ground heave from destroying your rail bed. Didn’t work, the boards are warped and twisted so bad it could be a ride in an amusement park. Where I floated the track everything runs fine, it is allowed to expand with the heat. Breathe if you will. Being secured to boards, the track, when heated up still expands, but it pulls the ties that are secured to the boards from the rails and knockes it out of gauge. I’m not saying that your way is wrong and mine is right. I’m just telling you what works for me.
Sounds like a B movie to me, “Railroad from the Yard.”
