That would be another name for what I know from miniatures gaming as the ACW? American Civil War - War of North America?

Which then reminds me that somewhere around here is book Civil War Railroads and Models. There’s some rolling stock in there I want to build; especially some PRR mail & baggage cars for which HO versions have been sitting around half done, probably ought to finish those, too.

Think I’m going to not do military stuff for the large scale, just civilian this time.

Actually Civil War is a misnomer. I know thats what most people call it but still thats crap. That was an armed conflict between two organized governments. They had mostly uniformed organized armies and most of the bloodshed was done between these armies and not from civilians as the term “civil war” implies. It’s also been called the war of secession which makes more sense than Civil War. Most people think that the war only reached as far west as Missouri but thats crap too. The war almost reached as far west as the California border. All kinds of battles in Arizona and New Mexico which aren’t too well known. Also California’s contribution to the Union isn’t too well known either. Organized volunteer cavalry units from California went back east but fought and served under the banners of another state. California did field a large army composed mostly of volunteer units along with a few regular Army units that went from California into Arizona and New Mexico fighting against the threat from the Confederacy that came from Texas composed of mostly Texas units. Man, I’m on a tangent again

That's okay, tangent is the RR term for straight track between the curves.

You should see Rudy when he goes off his trolley, though. I pay good money to see that!

Dear Mr F S Wood - WoNA stands for the 'War of Northern Agression', as I'm pretty sure you already know. ;=)

As one whose family were almost terminally aggrieved during the aggression, notwithstanding the great distance 'twixt my family and the Confederacy and its northern attacker, I feel justified in naming it as such.

As the veneeered Mr Jager points out so succinctly, a ‘civil’ war it wain’t.

No charge for this one coming up here. This is entirely true. Call it craziness, de ja vu or whatever you wish. Ever since I was a kid when ever I read about Pickett's Charge the hair on my neck would stand up and I would get goosebumps. Movies and TV shows on that charge had the same effect plus I would cry. When the movie Gettysburg came out on TV a few years ago I was a wreck. I have the DVD of that movie and when I play the part about Pickett's Charge I fall apart.

When I worked for the Navy I had a conversation with a historian that worked for them. His Gettysburg is Omaha Beach. He had the same experiences that I had and he actually went there for a visit. He was born in 1945 and thinks that he was killed on that beach in the attack.
