Here We Go Again!

The first time I’ve started feeling good since August and its the weekend the Storm of the Century takes it from 80 to 50 in 24 hours…

Good luck to all of you who are in the storm’s path.

Ain’t the first one I’ve ever been through, and it certainly won’t be the last…

" I immediately started having problems not driving over curbs "

Jon,
That means your aim is getting better!

Best of luck to you in the coming storm. Keep your head down and I’ll see you later.

They say we still have most of today to prepare. All of the leaf cleaning I did yesterday has been erased by a new crop that dropped overnight. Can’t say I didn’t expect that. Just wish I lived on the East side of the hill down by the lake - those folks won’t have any leaves at all to clean up after this is done - they will all have blown to my side of the hill.

Not expecting much rain here but wind gusts of 50-60 miles an hour.

I'm with Steve, the fire season is over. Had one burning to the west and all the ones on the east side of the mountains. Of course now it is raining! At least I can drain the 'daylight' basement by opening the sliding glass door. I do wish you all on the east coast well with your Hurricane, that is one of the reasons I don't live in that part of the country. I can deal with shaking ground, been through a few of those.

Paul

At least with a Hurricane we get a few days warning. So we have time to stock up on all the necessities, milk, water, BEER,toilet paper, and anything else you would need for the next two years marooned on a desert isle.

Hey, you boys on the East Coast stay safe, dry, and above water level. And keep us posted so we know you are still with us, OK?

Paul

Batten down the hatches guys…

BTW 90° very hot and dry dry dry here. Going to have to water here to keep the plants from dying…again.

I read about a survey taken a few years ago that said the the SECOND item stocked up on for a storm ----the first was beer----DRUM ROLL PLEASE

POPTARTS!

The last storm that came through, this summer, we lost power for six whole days. I’m not optimistic we’ll do better this time

I spent half the day securing our property and preparing for a few days without power. Got enough gas for a few days. The other half was spent @ my second job, fueling generation plants. My power company called for the first time in 12 years to inform me there is a storm coming and to prepare for a extended outage. Hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. Good luck everyone.

I hope everyone comes out okay on this one back east. As Governor Christy said, if it looks stupid it is stupid, so don’t run your generator or charcoal BBQ inside the house.

So far in SoCal we have dodged a bullet on our first fire season wind event, but the season is not over yet.

John

take prudent precautions, but just remember, even if you don’t manage to score that 15th extra gallon of milk, the chances of turning into the Donner party is pretty slim.

Good luck to those who will have a rough week!

Welp, I thought it might be a good day to get the boat out of the water for the season and back home for the winter. I took this shot of the Hudson river this AM at low tide. you can see it’s about to crest with no rain yet. Nick

Well Nick, glad you did better than the guys on that sailing ship. OTOH from the snewz pictures, ya probably coulda took a nice boat ride around Atlantic City today.

Keep your palate wet and your powder dry buddy

We lost the grid about 3:30 PM. Generator was up by 4 and TV & Computers by 5. Lots of wind & steady moderate rain here in Western Connecticut. The folks on Long Island Sound aren’t doing as well. High tide tonight (about 10 PM) is predicted to be 15 feet above normal.

Hope you all stay safe… good luck…

So far, so good! (Knock on wood) It seems the blitz that the local power company had Asplund do during the summer paid off. They spent a month just clearing tree limbs from around the power lines. Must have had about a hundred crews out there working on that. Powers been holding steady which is a nice change of pace…
Course it ain’t over yet either…
