Hello,
I’m new to this forum and like to introduce myself.
My name is Gerd, I’m 38 years old and live in Germany. My first model train was a LGB when I was 6 years old and since these days, I’ve a favour for large scale railroads. In the following years I tried many other gauges and scales, but I mostly return to my roots.
For more than 20 years I’m also totally nuts in logging railroads, either US style or European. I’m especially in love with Shay-locos since I first saw photos of the Yosemite Sugar Pine Railroad in an LGB-telegram magazine many years ago. This is also where my nickname “Waldbahner” comes from, which is the German translation of “logging railroader”.
Today I mostly build and operate logging railroads in Hon30 (modular layout, European styled), 1:20,3 scale and 2"-scale (5"-gauge).
Finally some weeks ago, I start construction of my new garden railroad layout for logging operation as well as some Colorado-style narrow gauge action (couldn’t resist the Bachmann C-19). I run my 1:20,3 scale trains on outdated Locolink or live steam.
That’s for now. For those that are intersted in more details about my model trains, feel free to visit my blog at waldbahner.de which is available both in German and English.
Regards, Gerd
