Help With HO Project

Guys, I need some help with a HO project I’m working on. I need 1:1 photo copies or scans of Bachmann HO scale EZ Track. I’m building a XTrkCad library for my students to use at school and I don’t want to buy one of every track section so I can measure them. I already have the straights, curves and standard #4 switches done. If you guys have any of the other switches or crossovers would you mind e-mailing me a copy of them?

Thanks, Jon.

Jon
sorry i can’t help. I sold all mt baby scale stuff.

Jon, just out of wild curiosity, did you post this to every train forum you could find, regardless of scale? I see you don’t have a lot of posts, but maybe you are a G scaler and you are helping the students?

I would figure the chances of getting photo copies of HO track from a specific manucturer to be pretty darn slim on a web site devoted to a completely different gauge and scale.

Anyway, I have no HO, except an old Atlas train from the 60’s I found in the garage just now. Well, I tried.

Regards, Greg

I would suggest the B’mann web site…and the “Bachmann boards”…they could probably answer your questions very quickly…sorry, I don’t have any B’mann HO track, or I would help you right away.

Greg, Jon’s been around for a number of years. Check out his website. Nice layout. Besides, I’ve been lusting after his custom painted GT SD45 for quite some time…since he started using it in his sig elsewhere…

Oooohhh I dunno Greg…there are quite a few of us here that dabble in On30…We call it “The Winter Large Scale”…The EZ TRack stuff makes it really simple to set up a temporary Table Top layout…He already had the dimensions for everything that I have on hand however…

Thanks for the replies guys. I’ve come to the point where I’m spamming everyone and every place I can think of. Bachmann was the first place I tried to get help from but I’ve quickly learned that they may not even know the dimensions of their own track! I even tried to get one of the local shops to let me copy what they had in stock but the packages have a large blister on the front making it impossible to copy them without opening the packages.

As for large scale vs. HO scale, I’m still a die-hard G guy but the students at my school (note I’m back to work again!) are building two new layouts for their train clubs in HO. I’m in charge so the best bang for the buck is my bottom line. And the Bachmann track seems to be about the best bet right now. Plus I’ve been able to work DCC into the layouts by pinching pennies this way…

Thanks again guys!

Jon.

Oh ya, I still love my GT engine too!

In case anyone is interested in how this “project” worked out…

I found the track sections I needed in various hobby shops and measured them on the spot. I used paper printouts to record the measurements and created the track sections in XTrkCad when I got back to work/home.

Bachmann also ended up sponsoring our train club. Two clubs actually, one for the older students and one for the younger students. The layouts were built so they could be joined to make one large layout and everything went very well. The kids learned how to use XTrkCad, layout the track, build the base using polystyrene foam, shape it, paint it, add scenery, build mountains, sculpt rock, setup the DCC, make buildings from kits, paint them, weather them, weather the rolling stock, make roads, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and play with everything!

We also went as far as hosting our own train show in February of 2007. The media covered the show and gave us a couple of very favorable write up’s and printed some nice articles about the club, school and students.

I have some pictures posted online if anyone is interested too.

The kids have done a swell job! Most inspiring. Thanks for posting the photo link.

Jon,
Nice work, Kids and both engines! Are the clubs still together?
Dave

Thanks guys. The clubs didn’t run this fall due to an extra long Lego robotics season but after the holiday break we will be back at it.

The first thing to do will be repairs and cleaning. The layout is one of the things shown to families visiting the school (potential new students) so it gets a lot of touching (some would call it abuse).
