HELP with choosing new Ni-Mh Batteries

I need to replace my collection of Ni-Mh AA cells. I have been using the Eveready 2500 series with their chargers, and they have developed the rapid loss of power. i.e.: won’t hold a charge overnight. I have about 30 of these. I use them in high power Canon Flashes. 4 at a time. I’m a working Pro Photog, and I must have dependability.

I know that there are some of you that are really up on the newest battery stuff. What would you recommend. Quality is way more important then price.

  1. Brand
  2. Model

  4. Charger(s)

Would Help out.

Thanks Dave

Sanyo.
Eneloop. (Hybrid NiMh/Alkaline)

can be supplied with batteries.

Guaranteed to hold 85% charge for 1 year.
Don’t discharge at more than 1/2 - 1 amp continuous. Doing so WILL shorten battery life.

Dave,

Any “button cell” whether it’s rechargeable or not it’s a customer brand cell and will not last a long as a manufacturer’s brand cell that can be welded. First, the best NiCd cell manufactured today is the NC2500SCR SC2500mah from Sanyo. This is HRD [High Rate Discharge] cell that is used for Fire Departments with Jaws of Life, or bed lifts in 24V DeWalt cordless drills. This is not the cell you need to used to operate your train. We manufacture several brands of cells, Sanyo, Samsung, BYD, Ryder [which is branded in the US by Tenergy but not manufactured by them!] and Panasonic. But the best Nimh cell manufactured today is by a company called Ryder, from Shenchen, China and distributed in the US by Tenergy and Cordless Renovations, LLC. They have several version of the same cell in milliamp hour sof 3800, 4200, 4700 & 5000mah. Our tests show that the 3800 & 4200mah 20C cells are the best for their price. The 4700 & 5000mah do not hold up for extended charging cycles. We manufacture a wide variety of battery packs, chargers and control systems that will fit any G, O, or HO scale locomotive.
