help needed on Foam buildings

I am making a warehouse,(big concrete looking box) and had seen a post about using concrete vinyl patching on the outside to simulate the look of a concrete building. I cannot find the article or the post it was on. Anyone with a clue where this article was? Thanks, brain fog is a terrible thing

Perhaps a search like this - site:largescalecentral.com/forums concrete vinyl patching - will locate what you are looking for.

Pete,

Go to my freight shed (Don Watson) and look under Structures and download images JS-1 through JS-5. Hope this helps.

Pete,

You might also try stucco. We used this on our mill.

There is the method that I outlined in Garden Railways Magazine so many years ago. This is by far the easiest and cleanest way to do these.

Get a tub of hydraulic cement, a small cup, a spray bottle, and a strainer.

Build your structure from styrofoam.

Turn your piece so the working side is face up.

Use the cup to put some dry cement into the strainer. You need to keep the cement in the tub dry, so close the tub after each cup, before misting, and be sure the cup is dry before each use.

Shake/tap the strainer over the piece to make an even layer of dry cement on your structure.

Mist the piece using the spray bottle to wet the cement. You can build up several layers for more strength by alternately sifting and wetting.

If you want a smooth finish, wet the final coating after sifting.

If you want a rough/stucco finish, sift some cement onto the final coating after the final wetting.
