HELP needed, Kalamazoo loco part for antique store find

Had some time to kill yesterday before an appointment out near Pomona yesterday so I went into a store on Pomonas antique row, this particular shop always has one booth full of model train stuff tho mostly HO and O junk, but to my surprise there were two large scale items , a Kalamazoo engine and tender and a Kalamazoo passenger car, I wasnt going to buy them until I saw that there was a 50% off flyer posted in the booth, in fact almost all the booths were 30-50% off, thats the economy these days. So I got the loco, damaged as you can see for $25, and the passenger car for $15, not too bad but the loco needs work and I kinda doubt HLW still has parts for 20 years old Kalamazoo stuff. So, THIS IS A PLEE FOR PARTS, look thru your parts boxs…

I needz… Sand Dome Stack cinder barrier Headlight housing Boiler Backhead Most importantly… Pilot wheel assembly and swingarm Now if I cannot get the parts to restore this engine, then I will try to rebuild it with whatever I can assemble myself, but I’d like to try to get it close back to original condition as possible, then I can add additional detail parts and consider repainting it. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided  PS YES it does run

Vic,
I think I have a Bachmann big hauler front pilot wheel set, if that would work.
Prolly too big tho…

There is someone on ebay selling all sort of Kalamazoo things. He has parts, and cars listed now. Type Kalazamoo in the search space, and it will come up. You could email him then, who knows what he may have. Dale

I bet Hartland still has the parts you need.

OK Chris Walas came thru with the pilot assembly, dome, and backhead, he must have a parts box that puts mine to shame!

That just leaves the headlight housing and the cinder catch

The Bmann pilot wheels are definetly too large, this is a very small locomotive even for 1/24, but I’m planning to rebuild the cab to 1/22.5 proportions. I may try Phil at HLW for the headlight housing and the stack, but I’ll try to find the guy on Ebay as well, the headlight reflector looks just like the one used on the CP Huntington masterclass and that came from HLW. Chris also advised getting replacement gears from the latest version so thats two reasons to call Phil at HLW.

What’s a cinder catch?

A screen on top of the stack ?

Great find, gotta love them old Kalamazoo 4-4-0’s If I found one right now for a good price, I would pick it up instantantly. On can always upgrade stuff on them with parts from HLW. I always like the older Kalamazoo tender trucks over the freight car arch bars on the current HLW offering. Cheers Mike

Yes, the cinder catch is the screen on top of the smoke stack.

The headlight reflector looks identical to whats inside my Hartland 4-4-0, so I am better that Kalamazoo had one of the Delton C16 headlights on it, so the body and lense from Hartlands current model should work perfectly. Cheers Mike
