Large Scale Central

Hello from the Monterey Peninsula California

I just joined this site. I’ve been into “trains” since I was a kid in the 50’s. Been into Lionel 0, N and H0 over the years. Got into BackYard railroading in 2005 and operate two railroads. My side yard railroad (The Industrial Belt Railroad) and my main railroad in the back yard (The Lone Wolf Railroad) so named because there seems to be a major lack of interest on the Monterey Peninsula in California in G gauge. I only know of two other people here that do this and one of them does have a railroad on his cliff side back yard and the other one only runs his stuff at a yearly all gauge local train show.

I do frequent the Garden Trains part of the Kalmbach website and very rarely check out the LSOL site that I’m going to drop my membership to when my subscription expires.

Good to be here and this looks like an interesting place.

Hi Rudy,
Welcome to LSC.
Maybe when you have some time…a few photos of your RRs.
I always thought large scale was pretty big in CA.
I live in a county of about 18,000 people. I’ve found 2 GRR’s so far. But have yet to meet the owners.
I guess I’ll just have to knock on their doors one day.

Thanks Ralph, Starting up around San Jose around 80 Miles north of here it gets heavy. Down here it's like I'm a crazy man playing with trains in the yard. I suspect my neighbors on the back side think I'm crazy :)

I’ll definately get some photos on line here. Right now I’m trying to figure out how to make my avator work.

Hi Rudy,

Welcome to the real time. If your neighbours think you’re “crazy” you’ve come to the right place.

On that Avatar, looks like there are too many spaces in the address of that file. I always recommend using underscore (_) instead of spaces.

Welcome to the nut house. If people think you’re crazy, you’re in the right place …

RJ - Welcome Aboard

When you have a chance check out the Articles Section. Lots of stuff there. Yep, we are a little off bubble. If you are 65, ask Bob for the “Senior Discount”. He needs a good laugh every once in awhile.

Welcome!

welcome.
Just so you know. The people with out trains in the yard are the crazy ones. the rest of of are normal.

Rudy, Always good to have fresh blood. Welcome aboard.

Dave

Some of us live further way from civilisation than even the Monterey Peninsula.

Over here in flatland East Anglia, if I stand on a telephone directory I can see the spires of St Wenceslas Cathedral in Prague.

And if I stand on TWO telephone books I can see almost as far as the Urals, with nothing much of interest between me and them.

Well, almost.

PS - I got some trains, too.

Welcome to the wonderful world of, hmmmm, oh yeah, G-scale…

What’s that again???

Rudy,

Your neighbors aren’t wrong, but they’re no fun either. Got to have an imagination to enjoy trains like we do.

All that other stuff “normal” people do is just boring.

Welcome and I hope you have found a new home.

Hello Rudolf.

Welcome to LSC.

Welcome. You made a great choice by coming to this site. Everyone is great and very helpful. I know how you feel not having anyone who runs G scale close by or for that matter a club close by. I have to say whenever someone stops by my house they cant believe how cool the trains are. It ends up being the hang out for the day. Its lots of fun.
Cant wait to see some pictures of your RR.

Pleased to meet you, Rudy! Of course, your opinion of our meeting may be different.
