Large Scale Central

Hello form Pittsburgh, Pa

Did you build that truck in your attic?

Anyhow, back in the days when drugs were things you took to make you feel better, and NOT things you took to make you feel better, there was a little song - ‘There’s a pawnshop on the corner in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania’.

I guess that me and Lou are the only folks here over a 120 y/o who remember it.

AND Burmah-Shave billboards.

tac, going back in the box now.

And that song was prominent in a Robert Heinlein novel called Time Enough for Love, sung by a sentient mule. It reads better than that just did.

Hi, Randy - another local here, Mt. Lebanon - welcome to the forum and let me know if you need any help.

Enjoy!

Welcome aboard Randy. Nice looking house I see lots of work there as a former builder. Btw nice truck and you have a great little helper there. Reminds me of my grandkids.

Chuck

Ha Tac, No, that picture is the garage. You can see my big lathe and the Bridgeport behind the truck.

I have heard of the Burmah Shave signs, but never that song. Good to know.

Hi Dave,
I’m the one who bought your used track and switches a few years back. That’s them in my post on the spring photo thread. Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome, Randy…hope you’re a Pirates fan; my favorite player growing up was Mantle, but then Clemente after the 1960 World Serious.

Am I the only crazy one here?

My first thought when I saw your old house, and then the additions, was: WOW! I’d love to model both of them! Those shapes and the roof lines are amazing.

Thanks for the reminder, Randy - looks like the track went to a good home!

Nice job on the house! No wonder there was no time for the RR!

You guys are old!

…hey…talking about being “Old”…I’m even older than Terry Foley…if anyone remembers him…we both claim to be miserable old farts, but we hum and smile a lot, just to cornfuse people…you don’t have to hum to join us, but it helps…!!

Doc, you aren’t gonna warn him about you know who?

tac: unfortunately, only a few of us old geezers will get your reference to a corner in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

I know what he was on about but luckily never had to visit such a place.

By the way, welcome to the place Randy.

Gee, you are younger then I thouight you were. I mean, you sounded older in your posts.

Now I feel old.

:frowning:

Ha Ha, you guys are all too much. You should have seen my boy bobbing up and down and tapping his toes to that song. Fear not gentlemen, some things are timeless. Some great shots in that video too. Thanks Steve.

Thanks for the kind words Chuck John and Lou, If you like the front You ought to love the back:

Our Place

I just took this when I got home so the sun wasn’t optimal but gives a nice effect. I’m looking forward to being able to operate trains while standing in the glass back of the basement in the dead of winter. We’ll see.

Dave, Those switches are going to go to good use for the yard. And the two I did use on the dog bone have served well with lots of life left.

Thanks for warning me Tom!

Sorry If I make anyone feel old!

Hmmm… The House of the Seven Gables. Wasn’t there a book with that title?

Uh, it was meant as a jest, a verbal whimsy, a light-hearted quip - NOT a serious question.

Love the house, BTW.

Good to have you join into this merry bunch.

Keep your January schedule open for a little fun and frolic we do around this place called" Mik’s build Challenge 2015" Surprise details for next years challenge will be revealed after the New Year.

After doing the house the railroad should be a snap!
Welcome aboard!
Sean

Sorry Tac I’m a little slow some times. Perhaps it’s the fact that at one time my lovely wife let me put half a Triumph motorcycle together in our apartment living room coupled with the fact that I tend to be very literal some times. Please continue to keep me on my toes with your whimsy!

Dave, I am very familiar with Mik’s Build Challenge, and would love to take part in honor of his memory. I very much regret that I did not get to meet him face to face before he passed. He didn’t live that far from me.

Thanks Sean, My biggest problem these days is finding time, Just like everyone else on this forum.
